Check the tightness of the diagonal braces. I had a similar popping and it ended up being the bolts on the driver side brace being a bit more loose than the ones on the passenger side.

Good suggestion and I know exactly what you're talking about, unfortuneitly my issue is a bit different than this. This is a pretty defined noise and you feel it in the floor board....
