Well, I am having a popping issue with the front end on my 07 GP. It only does it when turning left and accelorating or braking. It doesn't matter if you are turning just a little left or even alot left... It doesn't do it when going straight or turning right. (wouldn't be good for NASCAR ) If I am going through a slight sweeping left turn and using the brakes or gas, I get a muffled pop pop pop. If I do the same corner in neutral, I get nothing. It funny because if I am turning left and using the gas, I get the pop, pop, pop. Then I hit the brake and get the same pop, pop, pop. The car just hit the 30,000 mile mark. I checked the CV shafts and they both look good with just a touch of in/out movement(car was on lift). The lower ball joints had no play in them. The motor mounts looked good. I checked the cradle bolts and mounts...the appeard to be in good condition and not loose.... Any ideas?

    Is it a popping or a click/clunk?

My s-10 did this (4x4) before the entire wheel-well was empty. Ended up being in the front diff where the cv connects to the housing, had a few chewed teeth on the cv spline@ the gears.

you feel it more than you hear it....you feel it in the steering wheel. I hope that wheel-well doesn't end up empty! it almost sounds like a faint knocking on wood....not the typical cv clicking.

Sounds like a strut mount. I was having the same issue on my 99 when braking and accelerating only. Turned out to be the strut mount. I replaced that and it went away.

is there any way to check the mount? I checked the rebound up front and the struts feel very firm..... are there upgrade strut mounts available? I really enjoy driving the car and would like to good parts on her.

well, I went and picked up a strut mount kit from AA. It was $31.17 with the military discount...I will change it out tomorrow morning. Wish me luck and I will post my results when I am done.

Ball joints or CV assembly, are your cv boots torn/ripped at all? spread the folds apart and check in the "valley's" of the boot. But this was the end result of my clicking in the front right.

Id get that front end up and really manhandle to components under there or take it in for a steering/suspension check. My wife was driving when it snapped, As you can see I own a grand prix now.

Ball joints are new, they came with the new control arms. The cv shafts and boots "look" good. I gave them a good look over while I was changing the arms.... Its not the typical cv clicking, though. more of a pop pop pop....

I can even get the car to do it in the driveway with the ebrake set and the wheel turned all of the way to the left, the car in drive, and me pushing on the gas....now I would only use the gas to put the car in tension, but not enough to spin the tires.
