    I got a 2002 GP GT.
Last night got home and noticed my rear passenger window was down about 3 inches. Try to put it up via window up/down switch I only heard a small short noise burst in that door in up & down mode ... but window did not move either up or down.
I was able to push window up & close it ,from outside ,as well as make window go all the way down from outside ,by pushing it down ... not good.

What is wrong and is it an easy fix I can do, any special tools needed ?

Sounds like the cable is broken.

I'd go and buy a new window regulator and test the motor first. Regular hand tools can do this whole job.

You can get the whole unit on Amazon for like 40 bucks.

I see prices from about $40 to $100 , what is a good type ( in the low to mid price range ) that most have used here for replacement and are happy with ... I plan to keep car at least 3-5 more years.
What I found odd was I hardly ever use the back windows ... and yet it was a back window that failed. I've heard since I got the car in 2002 that the window regulators were not too great on GM cars ... but they've all worked perfect for 15 years.
