Finally got my 1st one on i just aligned the spring straight the best i could and compressed it enough that the pressuree finally made it pop into place. ( i have an old school spring compresssor that wraps around to the bottom of the valve)

is that spring full compressed? it looks like theres no room for it to spring. hard to tell from a top view.
No its not ill take another pic when i go back in the garage.

So since im debating buying a rotary/dremel to grind a little off these springs could i also use that to do a light port and polish job and if so what tip would i use. I heard carbide?

dremel wont cut it. you'll burn it out. you need a air die grinder, or a electric one. and carbide bits, then sanding tubes to polish them.
bits like this, but longer is better or buy a one longer one with a cone on the end. http://www.ebay.com/itm/5-NEW-1-4-25...oAAOSwPhdVCyx5
Here you go scotty! http://i1030.photobucket.com/albums/...pshetckcl4.jpg

Are those the modified retainers? There should be no need to cut a valve spring.
Ya there intense modified retainers the problem im having is i cant get the base of the spring to slide over the valve guide very easily

It looks like you have a couple on though? How does it get past the valve seal if it's not going over the guide very easily?
i think the spring is tight to the metal lip, not the seal.
Correct scotty Im getting them to fit its just a real pain in the *ss

It makes sense now that I read the conversation lol my machine shop milled the guide ever so slightly so the springs would sit correctly they also took .060 off the valve guide for clearance.
http://i1030.photobucket.com/albums/...psrgyqlrkw.jpg finally found a method that worked!!

How far do the valves open cause from looking at it theres only about a half inch from the bottom of the retainer and the seal

It all depends on your lift, cam or rockers you put in. That's why most people have some machined off the top of the valve guide just for clearance issues.
Right now i havent measure but eyeballing it i would say there a half inch of cleareance and im planning to get some 1.9s do you know if that will be good??

ive done no work to the guides and 1.95 rockers work fine.
Ok thanks scotty!! Well one head down, woo hoo! Also i dont really want to spend money on a canned tune so would the car run "good" if i just got a l67 junkyard pcm. That way instead of wasting money on a canned tune i can just get a real one?
