Well stage 3 is supposed to be cleared to .65
so if he wants the duration to be short and the lift to be high, why not a stage 1 cam
    and rocker combo?

Sx1 and some rockers don't sound to bad, BUT zzp once told me that the stock rockers are the best and are bullet proof.

On that chart, looks like the xpz made the most power overall
Not your average grocery getter, but theres always at least two things on the list.... 10w-30 Castrol Titanium and Shell 91 premium mixed with a lil 100 octane racing gas......

But look at the mods. They all had aluminum heads too
I don't know. Honestly I seriously was looking for the xpz for myself. But search the boards about people who installed it and said their 1/4 miles didn't change between xpz and xp. Matter of fact, search for the stage 3 intense cam as well. There is probably only a handful of posts that contain any useful info to help determine the better set up.

Bill here is a reliable firsthand source to vouch for the s1x / rocker combo.
Find someone with the xpz and another with the IS3. (Not me, I only have 1,500
miles with it so far )

Kinda just fell into my lap at that point. Couldn't turn away a brand new cam for less that half of what it cost new
i took a chance since there wasn't any info more solid then a coin toss could provide anyways

I put somewhere around 15k miles on my xpz l26 comp g in less than a year, then sold it. The current owner has had it for 2.5 years, drives it everyday, and I think has put somewhere around 10k more miles on it. No problems at all.

No, XPZ makes same power non IC as s1x IC'd... It all depends on what 'supporting' mods are added : )

those are are all old #'s too I have saved in a file. There's some more too, I just wanted to give an idea...

Right, but your saying xpz would make more power(with I/C), even more as a sx1 with I/C

There's a bunch of custom grinds out there too you might be able to obtain the specs on if you ask nicely. Like Overkill's...

    Overkill SBC
    214/224 @.50 duration
    134/141@.200 duration
    116lsa
    114icl
    .507 lift w/1.6 stock rockers (.316 lift)

    Overkill BBC
    224/234@.50 duration
    141/148@.200 duration
    116lsa
    116icl
    .507 lift w/1.6 rockers

I have the BBC in an engine waiting to go in my car when I can get time to do it. Hopefully before the new year.

You'll notice some things that have worked in making power on Blower or Turbo engines, such as a longer duration on exhaust for Blower motors, contrasting a shorter one on Turbo grinds. Heads are a big factor, especially on exhaust side... Some big gains can be had if they're done right and you're exhaust is set up too. Anyways, lots of info to digest, have fun : )

don't forget the TUNE can make or break how it'll dyno and run no matter the mods...

    Enjoy!

    Mods were:
    Xpz
    150# springs
    Double roller
    Ported heads
    Hai
    3" dp
    Stock pulley
    89 octane
All else stock. 3.29 comp g.

It made 266whp. Later, just before I sold it, I switched it to e85 and went to a 3.3 pulley. According to the maf, it was making somewhere around 325whp.

Never took it to the 1/4 mile track though.
