I bought my 2000 grand prix gt about a year ago.
A few months after purhasing it, it started to have a slight studder while accelerating when it got hot.
Over time it has gotten progressively worse and now studders when accelerating all the time.
Lookin for ideas on what it could be. Its also very intermitent. Sometimes its worse than others. Its just in all much worse than it used to be.

i would try and clean the maf. then spray it down with carb cleaner for any vacuum leaks. other than that is it throwing any codes?

Its throwing a couple emission codes. Ive cleaned the maf already.

The carb cleaner basically plugs the leak for a second

You spray the vac fittings and lines. if it starts to idle better, the last thing you sprayed is the leak.

It idles fine. Only studders during acceleration.
Ill get those codes asap. I know i wrote them ob my phone somewhere.
Also there was one point where i could punch it to make the studder quit. So it would only do it mid throttle.

Just re-read and saw its a GPGT, still might be an issue, I would do a maf clean and a tune up if it hasn't been done in a while

supercharged? Could be a spark plug boot going bad, happened to mine, everytime I would roll into the slightest bit of boost, it would start to bog and hesitate, just my $.02, a tune up is never a bad thing

Funny, I just started to have the same issue with my NA 40th Anniversary. It first happened about 2 weeks ago, very slight. Now every time I drive it, I feel a slight miss when accelerating. At first, it seemed to only happen when I first started out from a dead stop. Now, it is happening at speeds up to 40mph, mostly when going up hills. I plan to check all that was mentioned above. The MAF has never been cleaned. Also, all the vacuum lines are original. So, I may find the problem there.

Here is an update to the issue I was experiencing with the L36:
the problem was with the MAF sensor, as in it was bad. When I first started having the engine miss, it was very intermittent. Then, the miss started to occur more often. At first, I had no SES light which usually comes on when there is an miss. But when the light came on, the code was a "P0102 MAF circuit low input". I sprayed out the sensor with MAF sensor cleaning spray and it did not help. I installed another known good MAF sensor and the car ran fine.
I was about to install new plugs and wires believing that was the problem. With over 124K miles on the plugs and wires, I plan to install new ones anyways.
It is always good to know that I can rely on the advice on here about what to check and fix when I have a problem with the old GP.
