Hi I'm new to the forum and had some question about my project. I just got a 99 Gp Gt coupe with 90k on it, I've had it for a couple months and it runs great but I want more power. I would be happy with being able to run with a gtp so my question is top swap or should I leave it n/a and what mods should I get. I am an OK do it yourselfr but have only gotten as deep as replacing lim and water pumps kinda low level experience like that. Can someone explain how had it would be to do a top swap and prices of getting to my goal.

im running a top swap with a mild head port and 1.95 rockers and headers, stock pulley. it pulls damn nice.

my car came sc and it blew up, so i technically bottom swapped it. so i have a hd tranny.

98 Buick Regal GS, F body brakes, Caddy STS wheels, tinted tails L36 bottom end, lightly ported heads, 1.95 roller rockers, headers, gen 5 N* 3.0 pulley, FSIC, 42 lb injectors, a BrandonHall rebuilt trans, DHP tuned and AEM water/Meth injection https://goo.gl/gpV5kW

Thank you very much its perfect!! Now if I decided to stay n/a could I achieve my 200whp basically what a stock gtp puts out with rockers and Bolt-ons I don't believe I'm experienced enough to do a cam by myself.

I found a guy that has a 98 gtp motor that has a spun bearing but I asked him how much for everything from the heads and up and he said 120$ (he does not have the m90) is this a good deal? And what should I look for as far as potential damage or wear the parts might have. Could the spun bearing damage the heads? Thanks!

id try to beat em down some, at a junk yard heads are like 30 or 40 a side.

theres a gen 5 blower and lim for sale on the site here rather cheap too.

N/A needs cam swap to even come close to 200whp on motor, along with plog/downpipe/rockers/hv3 and whatever else.

Also note that whatever you decide to do, you'll want a custom tune with a wideband installed in the vehicle. And most "shops" don't do 3800 cars as most are either LS based or Euro/DSM.

    Nope.

You are taking a high compression block and adding boost, it was never designed for boost. A "canned"/"Bought" tune will not be good enough.

Google wideband and what it does, you have alot of reading to do.

its a little better. gen 3's are cheaper still and do the job.

a wideband is a air fuel sensor. works off a o2 sensor you install in the exhaust.

you can get a canned tune, but in car is so much better. what i have, self tuned.

you also need headers for a top swap.

I'm not giving away free answers, you want to mod a car read up and do it the right way.

A canned tune will never suffice. Every motor with a top swap is going to respond different, I wouldn't risk my motor over it.

The l67 heads? Or aftermarket due to the high compression?

Fivefinger I read a how to on top swaps here on the forum it didn't say anything about installing a wideband or headers for that matter so I'm just trying to figure out if there's anything I'm missing that wasn't in the tutorial.
