Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0
SD, you stay over on that side of the room if'n ya got gas. Speakin of, I used the GTP briefly today to hit the steak house food bar with the folks. Damn and I ain't fifty yet, thats bad because it was like 4:30. lol
Boobs, you know where I stand on LEDs but applause on that effort. NOW- got spares for all those? For some reason I'm fiending hate metal now, off to bang my head.
I'm about ready to start laying hands on cars again, bones are a long damn heal. Feel free later guys to crack the whip and ask if I have my dash replaced or sunroof and door fixed yet, or if the front end is still rattling around. I figure if I fix that it will be destroyed but I was headed towards 40th interior, deckid/spoiler, rails & scoops maybe (black to match on exterior parts), shaved side moldings, jam system, tint, wheels, etc and had tire money when I got hit this last time.
Still running with blown up dash and wheel, glued headlight, ripped bumper, bent fender and hood and all that. Other wreck problems also popped up. Theres hella wind noise over on that side somewhere. Top window seal came loose and bound up the glass, lock handle rod came out of a slide so door unlocks but no lock by the thumper. Sunroof cover popped out of tracks. Little crap has stacked up while all I could do was look at it. Dirty. Kinda still just want to go fix up the 99GT first then come back to the GTP. Gas in that one is from July '13 lol. Times are about to get real tight, though. we'll see.
Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0
Went to a nice car meet, all sorts of cool rides...not one GP :(, but there were 6 GTO's. On the way back home having some fun, found out that after I hit 120mph the car beeps at me LOL.
Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0
Drove it. Got 17 gallons of gas. Filled up the tire pressure looked at the stack of parts I need to paint. Picked up some more plasti dip parked it. Struts are starting to go. They are clunking extra bouncing. I hope they last through the summer. Big plans coming.
Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0
After i went to work i took it to the car wash and met my friend there. He was driving his dads 2013 ford focus se. we raced twice first it was from 60mph and he pulled on me at first but i reeled him in. Then it was a dig from a light and i got a solid start and he was history from there! lol my gt is bone stock and the focus had an intake. fun teenage stuff
Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0
Checked the impala for a noise that goes along with speed, couldn't find the source..
Oil is leaking from the pan after I installed a new dorman pan. Good news it's not the gasket surface. The drain bolt is leaking like a sieve and I can't get it any tighter with a regular wrench, so it's not that. It came with an oversized drain bolt and a copper washer. Junk.
During my diagnosis attempt, wheels in the air and spinning, the left inner cv dumped all its grease out. Awesome, good productive day.

Sold my 98 GTP coupe. Cleaned up my new 2001 GTP Coupe. Found the busted brake line. Turns out to be the hardest one to replace. Its the one that runs across the firewall to the passenger side. Anyone know if it can still be ordered? or Does anyone have a good one they would let go? fixed the sun visors cleaned a a few sensors and sea foamed it removed ghetto installed amp wires and got the radio working. checked all the lights. Found a two part basecoat clear coat galaxy silver paint kit online. I also assessed the rocker rust. drivers axle boot and drivers rack boot are torn. all in all not too productive but educational. Now to get a plan together to tackle the necessities to get it on the road.
Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0
Tried to start the trans am today. Battery was stone dead, the battery charger in "engine start" mode didn't have enough balls to start it. So i pulled the battery and hooked it up too the charger, but i have a feeling I'm gonna have to get a new one for it :(
Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0
No battery tender? I tried putting our impala on the battery tender, car hooked up still, and it didn't like it very much. The right headlight kept flashing every 30 seconds. No clue why but just said forget it.
Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0

Throw it back in the car, turn the parking lights on, then put it on a charger. If anything will bring it back, that or something like this will:

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0
Its funny, owning the car for lots of years and storing it every winter we never invested in a battery tender. We have a small one for the ATV batterys that probably would have worked but I completely forgot about it.
Edit: forgot to mention that battery is at least 7 years old or more so it had a good life.
Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0
Was replacing struts in my gp and notice outer tie rod had a bunch of lube on it, and cv boot was ripped. So time to do that while I'm doing struts. Was going to get rear trailing arms in the back while I do the struts. Always fun times when you drive a gp.
Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0
Time to upgrade the trailing arms while your at it!

Did a little paint correction on my brothers car over the weekend. The body shop did a number on the car when he had his F1 hood painted. I suspect that these were rotary marks. This needed some compounding. The pad and compound finished so good I could have sealed it but I polished it as well to add even more gloss and then sealed it.
Got a foam bath with a foam cannon prior to anything and paint decon with some ironx and clay.

This is what the paint looked like.

This is just after compounding. Checking my work in the sun. There is still some deep sanding marks that I could not get out. Poorly removed on the body shops end. Also not going for a show car finish since this is his daily driver.

A couple 50/50's of my initial passes to see what combo's I needed for certain areas.

Sealed and done. Letting the sealant cure prior to topping with a carnauba.

Polish: Americana Car Care Ameridepth on Meguiar's new thin finishing disc

The new MT300 is way better than the porter cable. If I was looking to pick up a DA starting fresh I would definitely consider the MT300. It costs more but it's a much better machine than the PC and Harbor Freight DA.
What sold me on Ameriseal was this photo of a black vette. I got it from a guy who's an authorized seller for a little cheaper. My intent was to use it on my dad's 02 navy blue metallic Camaro but I put it on my bros instead.
Well you know I'm a Meguiar's fan and I do like the different looks of M21 and UW. I have had lots of success with both. I also liked Detailer's Pro Poli-Coat with it's ease of use and it's very durable. But Ameriseal has a different look. I'm definitely keeping this one.
Here's the photo I was talking about.

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0
Installed a catch can to keep oil out of me intake. Guz, very nice detail, wish I could do that.
