Yeah. Years ago I had a v6 mustang, you rev and let off and it just sits there for a few seconds until it decides to come back down. What causes this? Is the 3800 just that much lighter (pistons and stuff) than the ford 3.8?

I'm thinking it has a lot to do with the tune, but some hang for so long that it's like the iac opens up or something.
Cable throttle bodys will close much faster than most DBW's and let the rpms drop very quick. Though my old 2006 sierra was DBW and it would rev up and down quickly without it wanting to hang and let the IAC take over to bring it down slowly.
I think alot of car makers will call it "racing" the engine and they don't want you to do that, so they make it real slow to react to random reving and make it slow it self back to idle.
Well if it's drive by wire there is no iac, but it acts like one obviously. The fords I'm talking about are the same generation as grand prix's, late nineties to late 00's. I've driven many and it seems like all the 4 bangers and v6's do it, and they were all cable driven.
Carbs rule forever FTW. Ones with long metal rods for linkage and stiff double return springs, to heck with cables! JK, those rod linkages kill folks and cables R good. Throttle slam can be a little hard on parts (vac spike, moment of richness) and when A/C is on, measures to prevent it also prevent stalling. I can't stand drive by wire, but a clunky shifter can spoil even a carb car.
More GT love today. No love for the dang skeeters tho. Put drains in one tail, replace bulb. Install missing sway bar link, let tie rod out another 3 turns, bulbs in fog lamps, begin drying carpet, etc. Ordered Ventvisors. Still ain't changed oil but soon. About to go try er out, woot!
ScottyBee- I pulled back the inner tie rod boot off the 02... Theres a crimped metal/plastic sleeve over the end, no way to put a tool on it WTF? Grip n yank?
Did plugs and wires on the LaCrap today, hopefully this stops the random chugging. All the wires came off stupid easy except for #1 it broke lol.
And thanks mom for taking a picture

those were due for a changing. why you in the bay like that? i stand at the pass side fender and just lean over and take them back plugs out all easy peasy like lol
waxed it yesterday, then cleaned the windows inside and out last night as the sun went down. this afternoon i vac'ed the car out then cleaned and used leather conditioner on the seats.
directions say rub it on with a cloth or sponge, then a few minutes later wipe it off with a dry clean cloth. well a few minutes later there was nothing to wipe off, the seats just soaked it up. so ill be doing that a few more times over the next month or so. they do seem softer afterwards.

Actually got some sh!t done for a change. Installed a new phone cradle.....

Added an extra led to the aftermarket alarm; it is blue to match the one that came with the alarm, and mounted where the factory red one goes.....

Installed DD HP3 LED's in the cluster.....

Went for a drive earlier and noticed the signal indicators (they were very dimly lit from when I put LED's in the corner lights) are lit up way more now. Yay!
Oh, and I moved my Aeroforce to the top of the pillar pod; seeing if it is easier to read in the sun when mounted higher up.
It happens when the parking lights are on. Problem is the incandescent 194 bulbs have 2 wires going to them. Each wire get's +12V at different times. One wire get's +12V when the parking lights are on, the other wire get +12V when the turn signals are used. When you have LEDs installed, the voltage backfeeds into the turnsignal circuit causing the indicators to light up on the dash a little.
Helped someone swap a trans..
Got fresh bug guts on my car
