I did not recently change wiper arms.
Leave the wipers off, remove the cover to the nut that holds the arm on the shaft and move arm to the rest position, then tighten the arm back down. Most likely just slipped. I carry a 13mm wrench just for this issue, lol...
Thanks for the video Odi and the advice FordMan77. Will try that tonight (if it stops pouring :-) )
Did you get this fixed? Happened to me a couple weeks ago and all I did was take the cover off the wiper arm and tighten the nut, then it worked just fine again.
I found out after I went to work on the car (its my son's car) that the wipers park in the straight up position also. I replaced the transmission this morning, got it back together, without the wiper arms on I did a test run to make sure they worked, and it looks like if I put the wiper arms back on they will be parked in the upright position still. What do I do now??
ok. I think I got it! The finger deal wasn't hitting the tab. I took the transmission linkage off the motor shaft and repositioned it so the finger would rotate all the way past the metal tab and it now catches every time. My last issue is the driver side shaft that hold the wiper arm is very wobbly. I will probably end up replacing that end piece on the transmission with the same part off the transmission I took off. The wipers now work at least.
Thanks again everyone.
