I am really torn need people's input decided to start collecting turbo parts so far have upper and lower l26 intake holset turbo injector spacers and stock manifolds....I love the idea of turbo power but it also seems like a lot of fussing with fmic vacuum lines down pipe firmest etc...so basically I keep going back and forth about selling current parts and just doing a cam small pulley m90 setup which make good power also...anyone have thoughts or opinions on difficulty between the 2 or just overall experience between going cam or turbo thanx

These 2 options depend drastically on BUDGET and goals for the car. Countless people say go turbo and either A. never finish it B. demod it shortly after C. never get a good tune.

Me personally Im very happy with a 330whp and 400tq on a 2.8 S1X Gen5 E85 car. Now with that being said I cant say Ive drove a turbo 3800 car. I do however think the amount of money for the mods in my car isn't very much compared to how the car runs. The end result is much more impressive IMO than the sum of the parts.......

Kinda want best bang for my buck and I don't totally have a specific goal for the car just more power...I have no e85 in my area so either build would be on pump gas tuning will not be a issue...I understand it's a lot easier to make power turbo but seems like a cam and pulley is a lot less work with still good whp numbers

All I can say is going turbo is the best thing I ever did. keep in mind that with modding beyond normal bolt ons or a 3.0 you NEED to build your trans. I went with a 1in gmr chain and am going to get it installed in a fully build TEP trans for the track with slicks.

go through with the turbo. you will never hit a wall when you want more power. with an m90 car youll hit a wall at 300 whp. youll need heads or e85, and heads are pricey...plus, a cam swap is pretty expensive too.

Like I said, I love my turbo setup, but make sure i you buy stuff for it don't get junk. The first kit I got was not the best and I didn't want to work with it to fit my 04. The next kit I bought was perfect, only had to weld a few things and cut a few things. The major thing I had to cut was the two useless strips of metal on the sides of the radiator/ac condenser hole. Most people don't have to do this but I was trying to fit a downright massive FMIC.

Yeah I am building my own kit plan is basically the z3 kit from zzp but will be a 56mm holset big fmic and I will have to make my own dp for the holset since it was weird vband size...I guess the main reason why I started thinking to just do a cam was because I am thinking about modding my silverado want to do cam and lt headers on it...so basically money saved from not going turbo would pay for silverado parts...everyone that has gone turbo doesn't regret it though so may just keep collecting parts slowly

I hit 300whp with my 3.0" pulley, rockers, headers, genV, E85, and l36 high compression block. I really dont think 300whp is that hard to achieve. Running a 2.55" now and I have a evo stomper on my hands. I still have even more room for power because I am only running 14* of timing (You can get away with it on the higher compression) Still have a bone stock non hd trans... not really sure how. That poor poor differential..... Im going to do a xp cam this summer and itll probably be insane considering that im running this much boost on a stock cam.

edit: It beat aarons turbo car back when he still had stock exhaust =D

^^^^ @ Frosty Id like to know what kind of TQ yours makes with that setup.

I love the s1x cam 60#ers E85 gen5 headers and 2.8 in mine, almost scared to change it any more. Makes 330whp and 400tq stock heads too.
