I think it is a gamble either way. yes, your car may have some higher miles on it, but you know the maintenance history. The 3800 is pretty robust. I'm not sure about in your area, near me there have been some 2000 to 2002 GTP's in the range of $1350 to $2200 Recently. And a couple in the 4K plus range. As the cars get older the prices get cheaper. You may be able to pick up a descent GTP for what you would invest in a top swap. Or at lest a good starting point.

Your 97 GT has a vacuum assisted transmission (4T60e) which I am pretty positive you can't top swap. Would be a kinda of a weak spot anyway on that car.

Would be easier in the long run to start off with a GTP instead of trying to make a top swapped GT car run great all the time.

i saw that one, think i could get him down to 3500-3700 if he removes the subs? i dont want/need them. on a side note, I need a DD, and the budget is 4k. could i drive that in the winter without feeling depressed that im ruining a nice car? haha

the only thing that bothers me is i want lower miles. i was looking at 100k to 135k max. is my budget too low for those kind of miles? i feel like it is

thanks, but i wouldnt want to waste your time haha. you probably have 6 thousand other things to do, and i want lower miles, with the intentions of the car lasting me through college haha. i greatly appreciate the help though!

definitley! i dont mind the purple, four door is cheaper insurance i hope haha, low miles, and hopefully no rust!

about 45 minutes away, the guy is being short with me, wont tell me if any engine lights are on, wont tell me what the rockers look like, he did say no leaks. thats all. he just said come check it out..... i dont know what to think

45 minutes is worth it if it needs a little work. if you go, check the rockers and the strut towers in the trunk.
