I finished up an I/C install this week. I replaced my valve cover gaskets and grommets last fall, now they have a little leak. Could I have nmessed up the PCV and caused a pressure increase to cause this.
Do you guys put anything on the gaskets when you install them?

I flushed the power steering fluid
On the left is the original fluid siphoned from the reservoir, the middle is the fluid that came out of the return line on the last flush, and the right is a sample of whats in the reservoir after starting it and turning the wheel back and forth several times. Which is whats in there now. There's just a little bit on there, it's lighter than the middle fluid but not exactly like new but very close. I probably flushed 95% of the old stuff out using just over 2 quarts of new stuff.

I'm gonna install 180• tstat in my car right now.
Does it need a tune or just a regular replace.
To get the full benefit you'll need a tune..better off sticking with the stock Tstat until then
My car gets hot at the summer 215.
If ill change it to the 180 will it be like 200 and the car will not waste gas?
I just swapped mine, and my temps are always lower as long as I don't sit in traffic for more than 5 minutes at a time. Once you get past 5 minutes, temps rise to the point they always would with the stock T-stat.
But for me that rarely happens unless there's an accident or something. If I had the opportunity to tune for lower fan turn-on points, I'd do it, but it's not too important. Stock is like low-212 and high 220 I think. I'd make it low-205 High 212. But it's not tuned right now, and since I swapped it, I haven't seen it go any higher than 203 and that was idling in my driveway for a minute after driving in 80° weather.
So what do you recommend?
I already have the Tstat in my hand a anti freeze.
To be honest I don't think I'm gonna get a tune since I'm not gonna spend 400$ now on a tuner.
I wouldn't mind changing back at winter.
So should I go with the 180?
That's open completely to opinion. There are people on these forums that hate them with a passion or something. Most of the time they say it will do nothing without a tune which is completely untrue because cooling fans shouldn't even turn on anyway during normal driving. Besides I'm living proof, I drive every day with a 180 in my car and watch it run cooler. Then there's those guys who hate them but say the exact opposite, that it will run too cool and foul plugs and form carbon build-up, which is also untrue. A 160 T-stat, maybe. Even on the freeway it runs at around 190° in the summer.
I like mine, I don't regret it at all and will change it back when weather gets colder. It keeps it running a consistent 10° lower than stock, even in hot city driving.
Dammmmm. Nice profile picture.
I unsuccessfully tried to enlarge it![]()
