Ox which hids you order up?
if you goose the gas while down shifting to 1 st, it wont clunk. this brings the rpm's up so when it engages its smooth.
never just dump it in to 1 st if not on the gas some, or goosing the gas, or it catches and it feels like the engine and trany wants to flip over in the engine bay.
all them years of driving a stick must of paid off for me lol
your a few steps ahead of a lot of other people, driving stick correctly is almost a art. especially if you can up shift and down shift with out using the clutch. news cars are harder to do this in, but the 80's and older cars did it like a charm.
ive ridden with some people and i never felt so bad for the whole drive train in my life. clutch burning take off's, jerked with every shift. no fun.
Right I've ridden with people who drive a stick everyday, and still can't engage into the gears without riding the clutch... poor car

I scared an explorer sport loaded with people driving 30 in a 55. Hammered the throttle behind them and whipped around them. Blower whine made them slam on their brakes lol
That pisses me off... It's even worse when they are in the fast lane doing that crap.

Just because rpms are too high. Downshift at lower rpms and it might be a little smoother
