Thats the beauty of a TurboHydramatic 400 like in the '69. Its modded and has around 100K on it with 400 lbs TQ or better the whole time, two engines so far. When it does that it just means I've let it get two quarts low ha ha. Add fluid and burnouts ahoy with big tires! Oh well, I have the one I pulled out stashed and it did still work.
All Grand Prix, all the time. 69 Model J, 99 GT & GTP coupes. All junk, haha.

i took picture today..of my 08 g6 89k miles and my 01 gt gp with 62k miles. one of when i got my g6, and one of the two today.

i forgot to say, i actually cleaned the interior of my gp, it had dust caked in it, i been driving it hard and putting it away wet to-say. Didnt vacuum it out, but whole interior got a wipe down, and glass was cleaned. Just straight dirty.

Cleaned the whole interior today after work. Got it vacuumed, all windows cleaned inside and out, and Armour-alled.

Although I like the warm weather that is approaching, it's making my GP a slug again. It doesn't have the same amount of power at 50°F as it did 15°, nor does the trans shift as good. Dang that will be the one and only thing I will miss about winter. Maybe I should just take a chance and go through my valve body and replace the boost valve with the updated sonnax parts, and swap a bwd pcs in there. I'm thinking the boost valve is the culprit to my loss of line pressure.

Thats weird, my gp drove really good in the winter, but it didn't seem to run just right, after it got above 40 degrees, its running like a top, the whole suspension seems messed up when it was less than 15 degrees, making funny noises, car wanted to walk all over the road, now its driving straight as a arrow, no noises, but i did put a rear wheel bearing in, and that made my noise going down highway to the right go away, but my struts seemed really unstable at low temps, now they seem fine. Im still going to replace them in the coming weeks though.

Everything in my suspension is new so it drove just as well at 0°F as it does any summer day. But my powetrain really seems to love the cold weather. Need to get some advice on this issue, although I'm seeing several people say it's plenty possible.

From the bonneville site's 4t65e illustrated rebuild
"1. Line Boost Valve and Pressure Regulator Valve: The inner bore of the aluminum bushing is clearly worn, and these valves are rattling around inside too freely. This is a common problem, and leads to slow / sloppy shifting. Sonnax makes a drop-in fix (about $45): "

I'm also seeing the torque signal valve can cause the same issue. Apparently it's inside the same bore the pcs goes into. So it just falls out when the pcs is out? I should check that while it's out.

I did a tranny service, flush change filter, change most of fluid at 55K and my tranny didnt take a dump. It did seem to mess with it right away, didnt wanna shift into gear right away, now its fine. My car drove fairly well this winter, never lost my back end, that what i was worried about. Just my car all over the road it seemed like, ill throw my 16" rims back on for the winter and park the g6 in the garage for the winter. First winter ive drove my gp in. Just my struts and shocks really get bumpy once it gets below 15 degrees not sure why. They are fine now that its about 45-50. I really didnt know if i wanted to do the tranny service, the trannys like to lose gears once you do the flush, service ect.

Trans should be fine with a pan drop if there are no prior issues. Mine had 109k on the original, changed 9.5 quarts/filter and no new issues. Still battling this pressure issue.

Im hoping for 150k+ on orig engine and trans. I got the car at 49k in 13. its at 62k in 15 now. Prob go to about 80-90k by 2016. Ill be parkin my g6 for the winter and i have that stupid snapshot thing from progressive on the g6 so cant drive it like a racekar anytime soon.

Swapped the GTP for the 69GP today and took a long last look around at the shop. I really should haul off my GPs and parts since I'll be out awhile and its all taking up space. Started to rain right before I got home so I tried to one-hand crank up a rear window that has a weak regulator. Snap, clunk. One of the rollers broke off the reg.

Its been almost broken the entire time I've had it but this was the frist time to try rolling it up with me broken. I usually "help" it with the other paw. The '72 in the backyard swaps, but only if the glass is also swapped, along with the regulator according to my interchange manual. Meaning I may have to tint one window, but it won't match the old. Wrenches are off limits though right now, so I'm just glad it still kind of stays in place with only two rollers.

Also stopped by the place that built the trans in my 40th (which is now in the 99GTP and having an issue) and set up a time when I could get the official $50 diag. The trans doesn't have even 20K on it, maybe it will save. It drove fine across town this morning.

Hey if its doing the bump into first gear from a stop or rolling stop, that's a common issue and obviously should have been addressed during the rebuild.

It had a one year warranty but that expired. It has been upside down and installed in a different car now though. No warranty expectations. You guys say its trans death, somebody else says its a solenoid, damifino. If I can't hammer it flat and make it shiny, I'm kinda lost y'know. Going through a patch of insanity at the moment don't help, lol. But I know the trans guy enuf, he has done good so far and backed his work without question and to my satisfaction. They have a way to test the solenoids, which is better than I can do diag-wise. Weighing complex options currently.

My buddy had that problem in his Malibu. Can't remember what he did, but when it happened, he would re-start the car, or go to Park and back to D and it was all good for a short while.

    Let's see:

I drove my newly rebuilt GP to the parts store and back

    Washed it

Put polish on the windows (cleaning some pesky runs on the tinted windows)

Drove it again to the store

Worked on some new headlights for it

    It was a good day.

Looked at it sitting there doing nothing. Taking up driveway space, wish it had a new home.
