I have a 2005 grand prix gt. I don't have a key fob to lock or unlock doors, so I use the door handle switch. The doors always unlock when I hit the switch, but they do not always lock. However the theft deterrent still works. So, even though the doors may not lock the alarm will sound when the doors are opened. The lock switch sometimes works, just not all the time. Any suggestions on what the issue might be??

Take it out and clean the contacts would be the easy thing, otherwise it might just be faulty and need of replacement.

Mine do something similar, but wether I lock them with the switch, the car locks or unlocks them or I use the FOB it will not completely lock or unlock them at times. I was thinking it was the individual lock, but it seems that when 1 doesn't lock all the way they all don't lock all the way. Is that what yours doing?

    The switch?

Remove the door lock/window switch assembly from the door panel and clean the contacts. Thats a free thing to do, because it seems like an electrical issue here. Either cleaning it helps or the door lock switch itself is acting up and could be replaced.

Jeff they will always unlock when I hit the switch. But sometimes when I push it the direction to lock the doors, they won't lock, and similar to yours they either all lock or none will.

I would also say the contacts. The internal switch contacts become dirty or loose and start having that problem. I ended up replacing mine because they were loose and wouldn't stay working correctly
