AGX is the strut that they use, versus the good 'ol standard GR2 (excel-G now).

i wouldn't worry about using an AGX versus the GR2. if you go pretty low you'll blow both of them out in about the same amount of time anyway.

the LCA's i have no experience with.

Considering the coilovers are inserted into the housings basically why hasnt anyone else used something that wont blow out or has a longer stroke to the strut maybe koni or some other brand. Obviously this wouldnt be for the vendor coillvers but the DIY guy i would have thought by now something better than agx would have been used.

you'd want a shorter overall body, which in turn would have a shorter stroke.

but "no one has found" a strut that'd work.

i would personally just buy a set of coilovers that were for another car, then modify the mounting points so they worked.

Yeah shorter not longer but you get what i mean. And yeah like a gutted strut for anything since its going to be inserted in a housing anyways. The shape and mounting points would be cut off anyways literally stroke and diameter size is all that matters so that it would fit in a hollowed stock strut and threaded sleeves. Again just suprised no one hasnt found a set yet.

buy a set of BC coilovers for $900 from a car that has a similar suspension, move/modify lower mount as necessary to bolt up to the knuckle, then modify the upper mount to either accept the stock GP mount (rubber mounts bad, no no) or make it so the studs are in the correct spot (hint: make a new top half of the pillow ball mount).

W-body's are dead, no one will develop new struts/suspension for this car now.

    I did.

Koni said they would make custom inserts for my fronts that shortened the overall length 3"...it was around $400-$500

    Been down this road.

The Nissan Maxima is very close fit up front. From my early measurements anyways. There are a ton of MacPherson strut setup cars out there. The multilink rear is a bit different, but you can buy just the front coilovers from companies if you give them a call.

Yes I realize the platform is dead thats why I said for the DIY guy the vendors only offer kyb and koni right? From htmotorsports zzp and intense? Any others for off the shelf? Anyone looked at tokico?

A guy would basically have to call the company and get the specs for whatever they make who cares what vehicle its for. Also what were the specs you talked to koni about? Just 3 inches shorter anything else different?

the fronts are the harder ones to get low, anyway. the rears have so much travel it's freaking sick.

Plenty of people had ZZP LCA's, they sucked.

    And broke.

And are expensive. And it'd be better to just get poly inserts for the factory bushings in a stock control arm, honestly.

Sure the old design sucked but the new ones aren't going to break they are ****ing beefy I'm on Zzp LCA and bilstein coilovers ATM for what its worth these have lasted the longest and gave the best ride quality of the agx and koni retrofit. IMO

Step one: Find the discontinued Bilstein struts for a W body.

Step two: Measure the crap out of the car, then send the struts off to be shortened and revalved and modified for use with coilovers.

    Step three: CNC camber plates

    Step four: Profit.

If you skip any step, you might as well have just bought AGX coilovers.

Doesn't mean anything. The 3000GT/Stealth has been dead since 99 (96 for the Stealth) and there have been several new suspension bits to come out for it, even within the last few years.
