I just bought some new speakers and im wondering if I have to cut the plug from the stock ones to wire in the new ones. I wired my deck up by myself and have a sub and amp ready to put in as well.

yes you will have to clip the stock plug ends off to use the new speakers.

best to solder and shrink tube the connections.

and your system is suffering from just tape, the wire ends are exposed to air will turn tarnished and fail to flow signal properly over time. it may take a year or more to happen, but it will.

a cheap soldering kits is like under 20 bucks, so many uses in the future too. i got mine at HF, 3 bucks for the iron, 3 bucks for shrink tubes, and i got flux core solder at radio shack for 5 bucks. done deal. used it so many times now its paid for its self over and over.

Ditto^ Please solder the connections. It may work without it, but you're sacrificing some of what little wattage the head unit puts out. 22 watts at most, so you really want all of it.

mine were split off the front speakers. so you can cut and solder them back in line.

never saw then for sale, being the cheap ass i am, ive always just cut the factory pugs off, and soldered on the new plugs that come with the new speakers.

I never really figure out the reasoning behind the adapters for the speakers, most people just toss out their old speakers anyway. The stereo on the other hand the adapters make sense. Most people add in an aftermarket stereo and keep the stock deck in their garage/attic/closet then when they want to sell the car they put the stock head unit back in. Nothing is more annoying than trying to figure out what wires are for what when someone hacks up the stock harness.

dont cut the plugs, just expose a little bit of the wire, about an inch from the plugs this way if you ever want to put the old speakers back in, you can.

who you kidding? the stock speakers are blown, sound like crap when compared to new speakers and the old speakers are never going back in. cut and toss the plugs.

i can get the back seats out in like 10 minutes. add another 5 for the rear dash cover over the speakers.

faster then the front doors, or the front seats for sure.

Wut. it takes like 2 minutes to get each front door panel off. Some of the bolts in the back seat are torqued way too tight from the factory
