i have searched a ton, and my buddy who professional installs cd players/remote starts etc gave me some info so figured i'd pass it on. if it is already posted here feel free to delete this.

my fiance has a 2002 Grand Prix GTP Sedan, Factory Bose stereo without OnStar. i was super nervous about installing the cd player because all over the web it states you will have to use PAC kits, or line out converters, or rewire the whole car to bypass the factory amp.

ive got a JCV cd player (forgot model number) and i wired it up, plugged it in an everything worked except sound. there if an additional clip for the factory stereo (you wont use) that has 4-5 wires on it, one of them being pink. i spliced the pink wire to the remote turn on wire on the cd player harness, and BOOYAH, it all works perfectly. turn signals still make noise, HUD still works (those were two other common reported issues when installing an aftermarket cd player). like i said, hope this helps someone out there.

Do you get any hissing noise coming out of the speakers? I had someone install this http://www.crutchfield.com/p_113KDCX...7.html?tp=5684 last weekend and it works great except there is a hissing noise coming from the speakers. I'm thinking maybe he didn't ground it properly. Anything else that could be causing it though? Can only hear it when the HU is on even if nothing is playing. Doesn't happen when it's off or in standby mode.

thats odd. i would check your grounds and make sure they didnt splice all four speaker wires together (ive seen it before) and just make sure all the connections are good. speakers sound great in my wifes car, no hissing or white noise or anything. sound great. let me know what you figure out

So you would use a t-tap connector and tap into the pink on the factory plug that isn't used and connect to the blue/white on the harness?

Correct, I connected the pink wire on the factory harness to the remote\amp turn on. The bose amp works, HUD works, the steering wheel controls dont because I didnt buy the kit for it. It was super simple and works perfectly

my 99 has the 2nd black plug but i only had 1 pink wire coming from it. i cut off the plug and tossed it so 4 yrs later when i went back to stock, i had no idea where to plug the pink wire into the factory hu. the junkyard car i found had the black plug but also had 3 more wires in it. that i did not use since the 3 wires were in the main harness on my car. i just compared the color scheme and figured it out. my hu has hi/lo equilizer. not the 5 band style some hu have. maybe that is why wires on black plug are different? or maybe the wiring got tweaked from 99-00-01-02
