ok this is new to me and very weird!! so i went to future **** and wanted to get a deck install kit right so i askd a guy if they had the kit and ya just a piece of plastic $20 easy enough!! THEN he pulls out this thing that looks like a line output converter(it even had RCA jacks on it) with a price on it of $150 and goes on to say, that some of electronics in the car will not work with out this thing b/c of the alarm security system that is built in, i guess its a bypass of some sort?? has anyone else had to install this part on an aftermarket cd player in a 2006 grand prix with the monsoon stereo??

I went with my cousin to have his Pioneer Navigation/CD Player installed and all he had to pay for was the labor and the wiring? He's got the 04' GT fully loaded with the Monsoon and everything so I'm not sure but even if that was included in the wiring $150 seems steep. Do some research before making a decision if you want my opinion, ask around.

well i think the second option ( http://www.zzperformance.com/grand_p...=809&catid=108) is similar to the piece guy told me about but it looks a little different, but yes it does what he described.. so what i need to know is DO I NEED THIS ??
i am in stalling a Kenwood eXcelon KDC-X791 deck and i would be replacing the speakers with JBL GTO series a pair of 5 1/4's and 5x7's also 1" tweets so to have all of this hooked up would be very nice and very loud!! so if anyone has a better idea of what it is now plz let me know about this unknown part that is needed or not needed thx alot!!

the second one maintains your HUD and such..while the first one lets you keep your steering wheel controls. I have purchased both for the GTP and the Buick.

i'm not exactly understanding your problem but to my belief , Are you saying you need a line output converter for your aftermarket deck to work? or are you referring to the New GM wiring harnesses ( note shouldn't be any RCA jacks on this ). ?

You shouldn't need to spend close to that, there's a few different parts you need that shouldn't add up to more than 60 dollars, maybe 70-80 depending on where you buy it.

I got employee dicount on my installation equipment...only paid $15
