I just bought a 2008 GXP and was surprised to learn that it didn't come with an Auxiliary port. I thought I was stuck with using an FM transmitter, since I didn't want to mess around with an aftermarket radio and risk losing the HUD, DIC displays, etc. But I found this guy in Washington state who makes cable assemblies for this exact application. My radio is a 6 CD changer, with Monsoon, XM and no NAV.
The guy's name is Ray Kawal and his website is http://www.kawal.net/vettemods.htm. I bought the Aux-1 harness and it literally took me 10 minutes to install. No cutting or splicing, just plug and play. I haven't spent the time to route the cable properly and that will most likely be the most challenging part of the install. It's a great solution, Ray is really responsive and helpful and the cable only costs $40.

I went with the Aux-1 harness. Really happy with it. I don't recall seeing a reference to it in this forum so hopefully it could be a nice solution to anyone here with Monsoon radios and no ipod port.

I don't have Monsoon, but I do have XM.

Where is the XM receiver in GP's?

You'll find it bolted to the left rear strut tower under the trunk carpet.

Thanks. Maybe I'll get this, or maybe I will continue to just listen to my CD's. LOL

My '08 didn't have a HUD so I just went with a new head unit. I lost the clock and date from the DIC but the new stereo has a clock. Everything else on the DIC is working. Although my front & back tire pressures are switched, but I don't know if they were that way before the new stereo.
New head units with USB are cheap these days. I got a DUAL head unit with 18 watts x 4 and replaced the rear 6x9's with Kicker 693's. Sounds almost as good as a home theater.

I think your tire pressures being switched is because at some point the tires got rotated without relearning the sensor positions... 08's dont have the passive system, they have an actual sensor in each wheel assigned to a particular position. When you move tires around, the sensor reporting for, say, Rear Left will still report for rear left, even if you moved it to front right.

But yeah, replacing the HU only loses steering wheel controls and DIC calendar functions. Everything else is retained as long as you get the proper interface, I use the Metra GMOS-04 with zero issues.
