yeah somehow i blew a voice coil on it. my first type r i ended up wiring it wrong and blew the sub lol.

i have a similar setup. I am running 2 12" Alpine type-x subs. I am using 2 alpine PDX 1.1000 amplifires. I love these amps! they are spendy but worth it.
Check out hifonics amps. I have a 4 channel 800 watt amp for the inside speakers and a 1600 watt mono amp for my two Fosgate P3 12s and I was very satisfied with the amps. Both were hifonics, big bang for your buck.
I'll have to check and make sure they are 1ohm stable. I definitely don't want 2 Type X's lol.
Went to check on a box yesterday and the one i liked was $180, screw that. I'm not paying that much for a colored box lol

just remembered what Jteske88 was saying, wire up each sub to be 1ohm then wire together to make it 2ohm. So wouldnt matter if an amp was 1ohm stable or not. (1,000 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms), is what I need. Sadly the Brutus at 2ohm is 900
I have a Type S 12 in my 98 along with a old school punch 40 to run my mids and highs it sounds great not to much bass but you can hear the music and bass from a block or 2 lol
Decided to save some $$ and probably go with a single 15" setup.
Amazon.com: Alpine Type-R SWR-1542D - Car subwoofer driver - 750 Watt - 15": Car Electronics
Will this amp power it well?
Amazon.com: Hifonics Brutus BRZ1200.1D D-Class Mono Block 1 x 450 @ 4 OHMS, 1 x 900 @ 2 OHMS, 1 x 1200 @ 1 OHM: Car Electronics
I'd be doing a 4ohm DVC sub wiring it to a 2ohm load. On this amp a 2ohm load is 900rms, the sub rms is like 800. Right?
your right, should be well within reason. if you can get a non clipped clean signal you could push more to it. but for what you want it should sound just fine.
I'm an idiot..the p3 that I thought i blew a voicecoil in..I tried hooking up to my amp that wasnt 2ohm stable on a bridge. the highest rms is 1x400 on a 4ohm load. So I just threw away a p3 last week that was probably working. FML
I'll probably get a box locally, a 15 fits in the grand prix right? lol. Definitely going ported. Figured the Brutus is a good choice on an amp.
yeah the brutus will get the job done, and a 15 should fit, a correct box will still be big though. but it will fit!
was the amp going into protect? only way to tell is volt meter, or stick a 9 volt to the terminals and "pop" it. Box should fit just fine dont worry. just measure it before it goes in
I dont think it was going into protection mode. Maybe one of the voice coils did blow but I looked at the specs of my amp i have now and it makes sense. yeah im gonna test it out before i buy it, prob going to Audio Tech again off 159. I've never had issues with his boxes. I have a feeling it'll be $70
Local shop around here. The guy sells a bunch of offbrand electronics, as well as a lot of boxes. I don't see it costing me too much. Probably $69, at most $89.
Op look into a crescendo amp.. Waaaaaayyy better than the hifonics shiit! Would also go a different route on that 15 too... How much u trying to save up..??
