    Hey forum,

I bought a used JVC in dash cd player today from a local pawn shop. I get home and take out the old cd player and disconnect all the wiring I then wire up the used one that i just bought i turn it on and it works great, so i turn it off and put it in the dash I try to turn it back on and its completely dead nothing on it works. I check the fuse's and find the Radio Batt. fuse under the hood blew, I found the wire fixed that problem and replaced the fuse, the damn thing still wont work! I also have a problem with the power window's in that none of them will work I rolled them down to work in comfort and they wont roll back up its like they are not getting any power I tried replacing the 25 amp "circuit breaker" with a 25 amp fuse and that did nothing. I am really stumped and need help with this. The car is a 99 Pontiac Grand Prix GT if that helps.

    Thanks in advance,
    Tgarison

Thanks for responding billboost but i figured out how to fix everything before i saw your reply, as far as the wire goes the electric tape I wrapped around it came off and it shorted out on a piece of metal in the dash. The window motor issue was I pulled a fuse while trying to find the bad fuse that I thought had no bearing at all on the power windows, the fuse panel has it labeled "RAP" I pulled that and all the window motor's went dead. I have it all back up and working, now just to tune the stereo. Thanks for all the help.

You had tape wrapped around the wire and it came off, Doesn't that tell you that maybe there is a better way to make a connection of two wires. one that is a little bit more secure, like aleast a wire nut then some tape. The preferred method is solder and heat shrink, but a crimp on connector is also good, much better option over just tape.
