    Abstract

The idea is pretty simple. Projector with an LED halo for signalling. With the arrival of all parts minus what's needed for the projector retro, I figured I might as well get started. You'll have to excuse the terrible picture quality, my phone is a piece of garbage.

    Anywho, plans are as follows:
-Since I'm eventually going to have 3 sets of HIDs, I'm going to install two medium gauge terminal blocks directly from the battery so I don't need to unhook it all the time. But that's another project, another day.
-Fog light roll switch on the signal stalk will be used for turning on the projectors utilizing a relay harness attached to said terminal blocks (and possibly setting them up to turn on when I start the car).
-LED halos will be turn signals only, not DRLs.

    Hör gut zu!

Here we have some factory 04+ base turn signals (courtesy of Javi) -- no big deal right?

    WHAMMY! They've been ovenated:

Oh yeah, remember those 3" acrylic discs from my cup holder project (from TAP Plastics? They're back (and still with the blue protective film on):

Hokai, so first you take this white LED strip and wrap it around the outside of the disc, attaching with foil tape as shown here:

It should look like this when finished:

    And alit:

Now, wrap the amber LED strip in the same fashion, starting from the center going outwards to make sure it doesn't look retarded. The end result should light up like this:

The next step is to undo the last step because we're going in a completely different direction -- oh the joys of development. Place the current arrangement inside a cup like so to preserve the shape during outward pressure from what we're about to do:

Nao, time for the second LED strip. Test fit it inside the first one starting from the center, again so it doesn't look retarded. Then apply crazy glue to the underside of the second strip and keep it held in place using the underside of a second cup (simple things like this come in handy):

    Once done:

    And alit once more:

    To be continued...

Now this is where I ask you, the audience, should I keep the amber strip on the outside? Or should I move it to inside the white strip? Or just say **** the amber, I don't need no stinking turn signals? The projector is going to go into a hole cut out of the center of the disc.

I'd keep both. And I would move the amber to the inside. Oh and subscribed because something like this is on my "s**t to do list" whenever I have the money. You've read my mind!!

I set up the fog light in my other car as signal/ drl/ fog. It is a Fiero and seemed like the best place for foglight is where the signal/ parking light used to be.

Here a white signal light is legal and I wanted to make sure the signallight could be seen. Wiith a halo the fog would need to be turned off anyway to easily see it from far away.

You wouldn't be able to see the signal from very far away. Unless I had both white strips on for DRL and then just used a relay to toggle them on/off for signalling.

If you set the halo to be on all the time then just use 2 relays, one for each side to turn off the halo for the signallight. If you want to turn the halos off as well use 3 2way relays, one to turn halo on / off other 2 to flip the rail with signal-light (used this with my foglight on the fiero just so I could turn them off)

I decided to not use the halos as DRLs, rather as just signals. I switched my low beams for use as DRLs a few weeks ago so idk why I even wanted to use the halos in the first place. I think it'll be much better this way.

I don't care much for DRLs anyway. If/when I get around to doing something like this, I'll probably just wire an led strip up for turn signals and call it a day. So are you going to stick with the white for turns or are you going to use the amber strip?

I'm really torn in the decision. I've decided that I'm putting the second strip on the inside, which makes things easier for me (and I might even do a third to fill up the space between the halo and projector). It really all comes down to what is more noticeable during the day I think.

Meant to ask, are you going to use the blazer fogs or do you have something else in mind?

Yes I'm using the blazer fogs. I saw some pics of light output and they seem perfect for the job. Perfect size, perfect cutoff, perfect price I'll be using Morimoto Mini D2S for my headlights though.
