Thread: New halo projector headamps with HID's.

Which type of bi-xenon kit do you have? If you have both low and high beam HID capsules in one bulb (9007-4), you may possibly be able to connect both the H1 and 9005 HID bulbs. I've never seen one of those kits, so I don't know if it's possible or not. Otherwise, you'll need separate ballasts for the low and high beams.

You can purchase H1 HID bulbs (H3 if you have the "Dragon Eyes" projectors with the six LED's in the corner) to connect to your single HID ballast for the lowbeams. Then purchase a 9005 kit (bulbs and ballast) if you want HID's in your high beams.

I'd recommend the 9011 HIR bulb (click for more information) in the high beams instead of HID so that you can flash them if you need to.

Lastly, you don't want your HID lows cycling off every time you use your high beams. You'll want to mod your wiring to keep both low and high beams on at the same time (there's a thread around here somewhere).

I wouldn't recommend putting the 9007 bi-xenon bulb into the high beams. It's designed for a 9005 single filament bulb, and the beam pattern will be way off (lots of glare, not put light down the road, etc). Shifting the filaments even slightly can drastically change the beam pattern (the difference between 9007 low and high beam filaments is ~1/8 inch). I know you don't want to waste your bi-xenon kit, but you'll get more useful light output using the proper bulbs in the proper openings.

Dicslaimer: I've never tried this, but it theoretically should probably work the way you want (maybe).
If you want to do it, you'll probably need a relay harness for each bulb. Trying to run two bulbs off of the stock wiring will lead to melted wiring and fires. You can connect the trigger wires from both relay harnesses into the factory connector (splice the wiring from the connector on one harness into the other). As for running the low and high beams together, this thread from that other forum (*boo, hiss*) should explain how, as well as a copious amount of good information on HID's in general. It's seven pages long, but it's definitely worth reading if you want to do HID's properly.

To connect the halos:
Your turn signal (big orange bulb) has three wires going to it. The black wire is the ground. The brown wire is always on whenever the parking lights or headlights are on. The blue wire flashes with the turn signal. If you don't want your halos to flash with your turn signal, wire them into the black and brown wires.

If you want to run HID's in both the high beam and low beams then you need a bi-xenon relay harness. Make sure you get the corect bulbs for the projectors. The projectors use H1 bulbs and the high beams are 9005. Let me just say the high beams are worthless on the projectors. You are better off keeping the halogen bulbs in them. I am using H1 HIDs for the projectors and halogens for the high beams with a 9007 bi-xenon relay harness.

The Guz - where did you get your relay harness, and how did you hook them up so that they both stay on?

I got my harness from 3bspec. I do not have them so the low beam stays on when the high beams are activated. I also do not have the halo's connected.
