Front Speaker Replacement

I have a 1999 Grand Prix 4 door sedan. Any instructions on how to change the door and sail panel speakers?

Also, is there a specific ohm and power requirements to look for. I am not changing the radio, just replacing the speakers.

Front: Remove torx bolts behind door handles then pull the door skin off. Rest should be self explanatory.

Rear: Remove bottom of rear seats by pulling on the plastic tabs, one behind each front seat.

Undo the five 18 mm bolts/nuts holding the back seat in. Push the back seat up, it'll come out then. then pull the massive carpeted thing covering the speakers off. Might be some of those stupid plastic Christmas trees in there holding it in.

I wonder why they made it so hard to get to the speakers and you also gotta do that to change the bulbs for the 3rd brake light.

Cant you just side the thing apart from the bottom for the bulbs?

I went to replace tnhe front speakers and noticed the upper door tweeter was directly soldered to the original speaker. Can I replace the main door speaker and hook the tweeter back up? I guess I just need to splice it in? Is that what most of you do? Was there any high pass filter on the orginal speaker that went to the tweeter?

Is there a replacement speaker for the tweeter?

I just replaced my front speakers this weekend with brand new original parts. The tweeter has a plug that plugs into the door speaker. If yours is different then somebody messed something up. (EDIT: Also, mine is a 97, your 00 might be different)

I looked for stock (AC Delco) for easy install. I didn't want to worry about splicing and different connectors.

There is a cap inline with the tweeter, that is the first order filter. its needed.

just wire it in parallel if you're using the stock head unit and it'll be fine.

Yes I am using the stock head unit... I cut the tweeter right at the main door speaker so the filter must be inline with the wire.. I'll have to splice the wire since I bought the easy connectors that go from the stock connector to the new after marktet speaker..
