I wouldn't go anything below 4 gauge for more than 1000 watts.... I will be running around 2,000 tomorrow and I am running 1/0 to a regulator and then to a secondary battery (this will get rid of the need for a cap).... and then hopefully in a month or two I will be adding another 1,000 watts to the system for my two 8" subs as well. 4 gauge definantly for your set up though. if you start to get dimming interior lights or head lights at night you may also want to think about a cap too.... just a thought.

one line of 8 gauge will be sufficent... get a splitter that has one 8 gauge in and two 8 gauge out... sometimes you can find a dual fused splitter.. that would be perfect.
