It'd be decent for two channels.
VERY nice output considering its "free"
Ya that is what I was thinking and I needed new 6 x9's so i did it with my tax return money. what do you think the sound quality is going to be like. it should be decent shouldnt it? ive never used that brand with anything but i figured if I didnt like it I could sell it
what speakers did you buy?
and the amp won't "sound" different than any other amp...
With a THD rating of 1% at its rated power and a S\N ratio of 80dB it is most likely a very noisy amplifier and will certainly "sound" different then a quality amp. the 1% THD can actually go up as power drops.
For free how can you go wrong, if you don't like it swap it out at one point. I personally would try not to make extra holes in the vehicle tho in case I wanted to change it later.
You may not even be able to hear the noise or THD over road noise anyway. Let your ears be your judge.
I think road noise negates the S/N ratio as well as the fact that we typically can hear at one point in time a 30 dB SPL range IRRC.
good brands...good buy. i am powering all my speakers with 100 watt RMS x 2 jensen amp i got for 5 bucks so it will be useful!
awesome ill let you guys know how they turn out i should get em put in just after the 12th
"I think it's a fine amp for the application. Tubes actually offer distortion too...just happens to sound "good" to most You probably won't ever use more than 20watts per channel anyways at most."
Tubes don't offer distortion. Typically any sound associated with 'tubes' is caused by transformers. I had a pair of 1958 stereo fisher amplifiers rated .5% THD at 50W x2 hum and noise -100dB freq response 20Hz-20KHz within 1dB.
Point being, even a 50 year old amplifier designed properly does not "offer distortion"
.5% is said by "most" to be below the threshold. and a S\N of 100dB is fantastic even now.
And I stopped using tubes for my main systems in 2002. I've had the nick since the mid 90s. So i can't change that now can I?
Sorry dude.![]()
Aren't home amps tested with the C weighting and car amps tested with the A weighting?
I could be totally off on that one though...
Hey,
I just got that free amp too..... I ordered
head unit: (Alpine CDA-117)
Front speakers: Infinity Reference 5030cs 5-1/4" 2-way Component System
Rear speakers: Infinity Kappa 693.9i 6"x9" 3-way
and the PAC SWI-JACK for steering wheel controls.
got the amp for free then. going to use it on the 6x9's.
Plus, I am putting 1 Rockford Fosgate 12" HE2 sub with 2 RE 8" subs in the trunk with a Rockford Fosgate Regulator and 2 1700 stinger batteries.
The subs, the regulator and the batteries were all a waste of money.
Get two twelves or something and just call it a day.
You shouldn't need any batteries other than the one under the hood.
