They will NOT play CD-RW but they will play normal recordables just not the ReWriters use windows media player and audio cd format. I have had 3 vehicles with the factory cd players and they always worked for me that way.

It has to be a cd-r to work and yes wav should work if on a cd-r. Store bought cds are in a wav format.

I just use itunes to burn as an audio cd, mp3 doesn't work. Tell you what I am dying to know though (if anyone can answer this) how on earth can I get the song info to show up. all it will show is "track ##"

I bet if you renamed the "track01" when you put the CD into your computer it would do that...

In fact, I'll check that this afternoon when i make me some CDRs

Nope, it's not that simple. all changing the Track 1 does on itunes or windows is just teaches it to recognize what it is. What is interesting though is that even though I burned it as "Audio CD with Text" from itunes, the text doesn't show up on anything.

could you maybe try to burn a CD from windows media with all the info on it and see if you get that to work?

Even a CD that does have all the information on it already (I tried Big and Rich) doesn't show up in the car. This is really frustrating

Ok, did some digging. go HERE and search for "25806" in the search bar, its the second link. For some reason a direct link times out repeatedly. Read that, looks interesting.

testing now, installing Nero trial atm.

Just let me know how that goes for you. I found it and read it. IDK if it will work. One of my friends has the monsoon sound for his 07 G6 and he burns disks with text that work... but they don't work in my car.

I'm not going to pay for it, and it is resisting my attempts to unlock it.

use cdburnerxp. cdrw cd's wont get played because they require a better laser than the ones car players use - cdrw's are darker, hence their reflection sucks.

burn your cd-r's as AUDIO CD's and you will be fine. Ive never had any problems...

Oh, if you really want to have Nero, use Nero Light/Nero Express. Otherwise you will have a big bloatware program.

I've used Roxio before for cds and didn't have a problem. I just use windows tools now for anything like that.

^ That is true. You don't need all of the features of the full program. Light/Express programs will do just fine.

ZR1 - There is an ID tag on music files for such a purpose. Look at one of your files you downloaded from ITunes in WMP or properties and see what is different from a file ripped from a cd. I know when I rip a cd to WMP it automatically puts that info into the proper fields if the cd is set up with the tags. For example, Death Magnetic has full tags. I had to add info to individual files when I went to put them on my mp3 player.

If they're unprotected songs I've had great luck burning with Windows Media Player, MediaMonkey, or what I use Winamp. Though the ladder two need to be unlocked to burn at a descent speed.

^^I realize a stock L36 is not as fast as the sticker implies, but this sticker has worked and it is still a hell of a lot of fun to drive considering it's a grocery sedan.

well burning isn't the problem, its making the song title and artist show up inside the changer.

And speaking of changers, I'm getting the 6-disc changer form a 2007 GP to put i n my car. yay!

Sorry I never thought about you trying to use CD RW's. Ya don't use them to make a cd. They are expensive and useless anymore. LOL.WOW.
