hey guys. i just installed a stock radio that i bought on craigslist into my car. I had to unlock it by entering the codes and such and when i did that the display worked fine. But now that i got everything buttoned back up, there is no display what so ever. whats the problem? is there a loose wire or something? i know the radio display is an issue in GM cars, is this just a case of that? help me out here...

I just fixed something similar on my new car. Behind the display screen is a light bulb. Take the dash cover off, remove the radio, and carefully remove the faceplate of the radio. It is connected to the base by a ribbon cable. The light bulb on my radio was a little loose, I wiggled it a tad and now I can see the display..... That may or may not be it, but it is worth a try.

Ive seen the same issue on multiple car and house radio's as well as a few pieces of pro audio gear. Try these the following diagnosis steps in the following order: Try wiggling it, check bulb (replace if needed), check voltage (solder if needed), buy my stock radio w/cd player (PM w/zip to negotiate price)

if the bulb is burnt out, i kinda janked one together, i took a bulb out of the gauge cluster (had one extra layin around) the little bulbs, and i unfolded the two wires that are folded around the actual bulb. then i pulled the stock bulb out of the holder its in and put my new one through, connected those two little wires and soldered them to where the stock ones were soldered and plugged it in and it worked,, just a thought lol
    i knew this guy wasn't b/sing.
