I just replaced my LIM and valve cover gaskets. I've put everything back together and the car just cranks, won't fire up. All the sensors are connected, plug wires are in the right order, no vacuum lines are loose. As far as I can see there should be no reason for the car not to start, it is getting fuel, haven't checked spark yet. Anyone have any other ideas?

Check the ground for the coil packs. It goes on a bolt for the bracket .

That's the first thing that I checked. I got it to start up twice and ran it for a few seconds since the oil had a little water in it, oil is changed and now it won't start again, just cranks, and I haven't touched anything since I got it to start up. The first time I got it started it took a few seconds then shut it off and let it sit for 15 min, the second time it started right up, now it won't. I'm pretty confused since now I know that it WILL run.

I should add that the car ran smooth when it did fire up both times.

    edit:
I'm not getting spark, I am getting fuel, all of the fuses look good, the ground by the coils is connected too.

    edit:
It seems that I am having a security problem, just never noticed the light coming on.

    edit
Now the security light isn't on anymore but it still will just crank and not fire, the fuses are fine.

check the connection at the ground point clean the mating surface of the wire and the bolt and the nut try that if all is connected I really do not see any other reason.

Did you take the ICM harness off for any reason? It's the harness that is held on by a bolt that goes under the coil packs.

Seems like you would have noticed that though.

The harness and ground are attached. I've pretty much touched all the basics for checking if something is no right. The plugs and wires are only a couple of months old, the coils are old stockers, and the fuses are good. How do I test to see if I am getting power to the coils?

Not saying the ground isn't attached just may not be getting sufficient ground that's all. Worth a shot I think when you are up in the air like you are.

That's true. I'm going to take the coils off and see if all of the connections are good, then go from there.
