so i went out and bought the gaskets along with a haynes repair manual. and i was reading thru and it seems like you have to remove everyting under the sun!!! does anyone have experience? that could chime in?![]()

And, YES! You do have to remove a lot of stuff. It's not all that hard, though. You can do it in a few hours. Do like I did. Watch the video through, then go back and watch a short segment, go out and do that part, watch another short segment, go back out and do that next part, etc...
A laptop would make the process a bit quicker so you don't have to run in and out of the house so much![]()
It took me almost 2 months, actually. In the middle of teardown, I found a spun bearing was causing my problems, not a lifter... Go check out my thread "Tearin' Her Down"
If you keep everything organized, I'd say you can have it done in 2-3 hours.

it took me and 2 friends 8 working hours to replace the lim gaskets and install my rockers/springs.
Took me about four hours, and that included an hour of figuring out where the hell to get a replacement LIM-to-head bolt. Also taking pictures for a how-to guide, which slowed me down.
