This thread is for whoever cares to follow along. I will be showing step by step of what is being done and will be posting lot's of pics. I will be doing things like blower porting,Cam install,Roller rocker install ect ect. So hopefully it will contain lot's of good info on a wide array of things. That's the point of the thread in the first place..

With the turbo build down the drain for personal reasons, I've decided to go all out with the m90 buildup. This will make it a lot easier on me because it will be almost 3000 dollars cheaper. It will be done right. So if someone see's me doing something wrong, Don't be shy to correct me,I only want to do this once.

I plan on setting the record whp for the IS3 Intense camshaft. The current record is 399 WHP set by Ted Quartana. He was using a gen 5 and Is3 heads.

The build will include the following new stuff,

    L26 6000 mile engine
    IS4 camshaft (.600/.601 with 1.6's)
Ported and polished heads w/ 1.9 1.57 valves
Gen 5 (Ported inlt & outlet w/sealed slits)
    Yella Terra 1.6 roller rockers
    65# mototron injectors
    Comp Cams OE-R lifters
    Mezere electric water pump
    130# valve springs
    ARP head studs
    Retainers & locks

I'll update with the parts I get in as time goes.I plan on posting pics of everything that i'm doing along the way.

This is just some quick shots of the stock gen 5 before the porting.

These are some pics of the ported sc inlet and outlet. Probably will be painting it instead of powdercoating it also.

Just bought the Gen 5. Picked it up for 350.00 shipped to my door with 45,000 miles on it. Should be here in about a week. Plan on porting it then it's off to get powdercoated. After that it's getting a fresh rebuild.Possibly with ceramic bearings.

This is my only daily driver. Looking to run Low 11's for sure. After I break the record (fingers crossed) I plan to put the bottle on to run Real low 11's and maybe break 10's.

Yup ceramic m90 bearings. Not sure if I want to shell out 200 bucks though.

Well I'll offer this little tid bit for you. One of the advantages of using the ceramic bearings is that they reduce the parasitic losses from turning the blower. However, if you bought some high quality high speed regular bearings you could have them cryo treated.

I dont know if you have a place around where you are that provides this service, but cryo treating such parts makes them a bit tougher, it reduces friction which would have the same parasitic loss reduction effect. So it could be worth looking into.

interesting cryo treating the bearings? i dont know how much hp the ceramic bearings would free up maybe 5 or 10. i know how ya feel 200 bucks is a lot for bearings been lookin into it myself.

    your porting the blower right?

    Update-

Got the Gen 5 the other day. Cleaned it up and just ported it today. Did not do much at all to the outlet but did port the inlet to match the 78mm TB that I have. Will be posting up some pics soon.

why do you want to use the comp oe-r lifters? personally when i had a set i sold them because the stock ones are just fine on any setup. just wondering your thoughts on that..

good choice on all the rest of the stuff though. itll be interesting to see how the heads actually flow with that cam. no promises on them being the best out there.

Well I figured i'd replace every part that I can afford to with something better. I have a slight valve tap right now and while the stock lifters do have 110,000 miles on them I figured if I could get a better lifter then I would.I believe I have a lifter that is about to colapse. Now how much better is the comp lifter than the oem? Maybe none at all. And maybe I shouldn't thinki this way but since it is comming from comp I do have some faith in them and their products.

I am more than likley going to be spinning around 6900 rpm's so I figured these could perform a little better than the stock.
