Instead of being defensive you could always explain "what you have going on" and it would avoid these comments and make people more willing to help you.

I clearly explained my question... it was, "what is the part number and source for a rod?" That's all I asked. I would guess since it was so hard to find, someone here would say

They're not the same rod at all, the newer part number is powdered metal, the older number is forged. You cannot use the number that they provide now in that engine without buying all 6.

and thank you Reptile, I was afraid that was going to be the answer. In that case, then I will certainly have to abandon the idea of purchasing a new rod and instead try to find a used one. Im definitely not trying to buy 6 rods. This will help me narrow my search efforts a lot.
