I understand the theory but until someone shows the dyno proof it's a moot point you make

Well after driving around for a few hours and doing a few wot bursts here and there on damp / wet roads, there was already a brown dirty spot about diameter of a soda can on the filter (must be where most of the suction is). It seems like ill have to clean the filter way too often and that will just be too much of an inconvenience to keep this on (its a hassle to access the filter the whole intake and strut bar must come off each time). Does anyone else have issue with there filters getting dirty so quick?

That's why I also don't run silly FWI for that reason. Enjoy buying either a filter condom or moving the intake back to the engine bay.

As for the dyno proof...It's been proven many times.

    On the blower cars especially.

My buddys M90 setup ran 11.5's with just open cone.

Intercooler fixes all the need for fender intakes and junk.

Just doesn't look as neat I guess.

If dying for fender intake.. could go this route. My buddy ran this airbox setup on his non cam'd L67 setup to low 12s.

Just a funnel type setup on the other end on the other side. Couldn't get a pic.

I've personally never had issues with my FWI getting water on it, but I used weatherstripping and such to seal up all the "direct" routes for water and dirt to get in the fender. I honestly do it for the looks, performance-wise it isn't going to make any noticeable difference. A supercharger will just add too much heat to the intake charge for it to matter, so the only people who are going to see any benefit (that benefit still being very small) are ones who are either NA or turbo, maybe intercooled.

I can't argue with the price either, I spent maybe $30 to put together my FWI completely sealed from the engine bay, any more and the looks wouldn't justify the price.
For thine is the Cam, The Piston, and The Rod, Forever and ever (or until they break). Amen.

I blame the things you stole from the dentist, lol.

The colder/denser charge makes no difference when the M90 is turning all the air coming in to magma.

    Point, case, closed.

    dyno science thread.

also; per multiple years driving with aeroforce...IAT's are exactly the same when driving...so moving the intake to the fender to get cooler air while your sitting at a stoplight might be the cool thing to do, but it isn't beneficial at all.

I think I've had every major style intake. They don't make a difference worth worrying about. Put the money towards a cam, rockers, intercooler or better yet your transmission, tires and suspension.

If you're dead set on more air in, take out your drivers fog light, and run a duct into a ZZP intake. This one: http://shop.zzperformance.com/store/...ir-Intake.aspx

You won't have a dirty filter, but the air box will pick up a lot of dirt and crap so you had better use a filter that filters, not an oil based filter.
