and just to clarify your tuning situation..

the guys around town SAY they can tune your car because they want your money. they more than likely could tune it, but who knows if it is really going to be a good tune. you might be best off looking for someone locally to get a tune from, but being in canada might be against your favor. there are A LOT of little tiny tweaks you can do in the PCM of these cars, or any car for that matter, that will help a lot with how your car runs.

overkill is in canada, but i have no idea where. may want to look into it. that guy will have your car running like a top for sure.

I think overkill motorsports is based in Toronto roughly a 3-3 1/2 hour drive from here. But don't quote me on that. I have searched around and there are other GPF.net members an hour or two away but can't mod and used ZZP or Overkills.

Thats exactly what I was thinking I want somebody to do it that knows what they are doing and can show me what they did not just lie about it(not saying all shops do this but some do) I don't want to be driving and have something bad happen. And I have heard amazing things about overkill.

id think that even a canned tune from will (overkill) would be better than just any random speed shop. there arent a whole lot of people who decide to mod a GM 3800, so not many poeple know the specifics of tuning it.

if you do end up going with a local shop, make sure they will warrenty their work just incase they blow up your car. i dont really let anyone work on my car unless i know them personally and know they will do it right. otherwise i do everything on my own.

Yeah I checked on Overkill and they are based in Toronto. I will have to give him a shout to see if he will work his magic after I get the mods done. I wonder if he is like ZZP and you can send in your own PCM for tuning and re-tuning after future mods.

he does a tune for you and you can get a retune if needed. im not sure if he makes you pay again or if he discounts it a little or what.

id use him if there was no one else near me to help me tune. ive got a friend with hptuners that can do my car up nicely.

Yeah you're lucky I have no one near me with their own tuner. It looks like Overkill is my way to go but I have to find out if he charges a fee to retune.

Its 50$ last time I remember. Once you get the PCM I think you have 30 days to send it back and make changes if theres something you see in the scan that you dont like.

alright, so i have an intake, pcm, and 3.4 pulley (yeah i know, i shouldn't have dropped pulley sizes yet, but i did, dont judge me) And im looking to put some exhaust work on it in a few months when the weather is better. I don't want to spend a bunch of money because i'm going on two vacations and i'll be starting college soon as well.
I'm just wondering if going with a downpipe/plog would be a noticable mod and how much it would cost to get a good setup with that as opposed to getting a decent set of headers...

a PLOG/downpipe would do you just fine. it helps out a lot, as those are the most restrictive parts on the car, but it will never help as much as headers.

if you plan on making the car faster than it will be with the plog/downpipe then just buy headers. they are getting rediculously cheap to buy now.

Haha well GTP I asked the same questions and got chewed up pretty badly but it's the best way to learn. I suggest buying headers even though they are more expensive they will earn their keep in the long run because eventually you will buy them. And I have heard the PLOG/DP combo is crap and not worth it just my .2

bogger said he couldent really feel the difference with his plog-downpipe set up. i could feel the difference with my headers and yess headers are getting CHEAP, check around. they say the ebay headers work great for around 300$
