Running Hot

So today I was driving back from my brothers house and the light came on in my dash with Low% in engine. She is running hot I removed the cover and it helped it bit by slowing down the heating but she still warmed very quickly. Wondering what the problem could be because no other lights came on in my dash. No oil or check engine

Could it be the supercharger oil? Is it possible for me to change the supercharger oil by myself? or would I have to take it to a shop and get it done? I am changing the regular oil a bit earlier then I should to see if it should help, and might get the supercharger done to if people say it could be a cause.

No I checked that first, then the engine oil and both were fine, removed the cover and came inside and posted this Q

supercharger oil is easy,there is a little black plug on the snout.Take that out and get some type of syringe and put a little plastic hose on it and suck it out.Just keep track of much u take out so u dont overfill it.if u cant get a syringe u can also use the the sprayer part of a spray bottle,just stick the plastic tube in the hole and squirt it out.If ur not low on coolant its probably that ur thermostat went bad.Or possibly the water pump.

i would start with replacing the thermostat, followed by a coolant flush.

I'd try the radiator cap "2nd".... if it is not holding in the pressure, you will be loosing coolant out the resivoir tank...

First thing I would do is make sure that you are checking the coolant properly. Many people will just check the overflow tank and call it good. But often times, the overflow tank can be full, but the radiator can be low on coolant. So I would remove the radiator cap when the engine is cool and check to make sure it is full of coolant. If not, add some until it is completely full.

If that is fine, then I would move on to a coolant flush, t-stat and radiator cap change.

But I doubt the supercharger fluid has anything to do with your overheating.

So today I went out to buy a 180*C thermostat and my plugs and wires. To bad NONE are for sale locally I have to order off the internet.

So I went out for a bit and come back and my dad spent 15.99 on a 192* t-stat and already replaced it Me being pretty mad and out of school for the next two weeks I can't replace any fluids by myself and go to get it done at a shop get this they wanted 80$ for a full synthetics done so I figured what the hell payed them and then came back in half an hour. Come back its done BUT they said they put conventional in instead and told me it was better for supercharged engines Then they had the nerve to ask me if I wanted a new air filter (30$) fuel filter (50$) and my engine coolant done (another 60$)

I told them where to stick it, and drove off pretty F****** pissed

Oh and I fixed the problem some moron who worked on the car before me had gotten plastic wrapped around the fan so they wouldn't turn on and the motor burnt out. But I got a 192*c t-stat and a conventional oil change out of it


Oh and on a side note I found out when my dad has been filling up the car he has been putting 87 octane gas in

FWIW, the temp on t-stats is listed in F, not C. And the 195°F stat won't matter that much. Not a big deal. You won't see any increase in performance with a cooler stat and you will lose economy. Just stick with the stock stat.

Well I had heard it is better to drop down to the 180* t-stat and well I more trying to point out that he wasted his money because I was going to buy one regardless

a 180 helps with knock a little bit, but nothing noticeable. i think if you have a properly tuned car with a 195 it will run just as good as one with a 180. it just helps keep the temps down when youre romping on it.

A 180°F, while it will run the same as a stock t-stat, will be less efficient. Meaning, you will lose mpg. You are going to be burning more fuel, but not going any faster.

The only way a 180° t-stat will "gain" power is if you have KR. Then you might feel a slight gain. But if you have KR, then your car is overmodded or not tuned correctly and putting in a cooler stat is not helping solve the problem. You need to get the car tuned correctly or change your mods.
