On a cold motor, remove the two 10mm nuts on the thermostat housing, remove the tstat and install the new one with a gasket. Bolt the housing back on and top off the coolant.

You might loose a cup or two of coolant but thats it. You don't even have to bleed the system if you do it cold.

Also dont straight pipe these cars. It will sound horrible and make your ears bleed. It's not a personal preference, it's a fact.

delete the egr. Take any piece of metal drill 2 holes for bolt, use high temp gasket sealer. Get a screw I plug for the exhaust. I would change the coolant sensor too. Some call it the master sensor cause it virtually runs everything under the hood.

So changing the t-stat did not work with the temp gauge. Still reads low. Maybe it went up 2 ticks on the gauge... Now what's next? Is there a temp gauge sensor?

Yes, the coolant temp sensor that is screwed into the LIM. Should be near the t-stat housing and under the exhaust crossover.
