    Hello,
My friend Michelle, owns a 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP.
She was on her way to work last week during rush hour morning traffic on the freeway, and heard what she described as a "Hiss" sound on the driver's side under the hood. As she proceeded to make her way over to the emergency lane the car stalled out all together, losing the power steering and making it extremely difficult to maneuver to safety. She called AAA and had it towed home unsure of exactly what had happened at the time.

I went to check it out on the weekend, and discovered that the top radiator hose had blown. I went ahead and
replaced both the upper and lower radiator hoses, thermostat, and refilled it with Dex-cool coolant. I bled the air from the system (there was lots) and topped off with coolant.

I did notice that there seemed to be excessive lifter noise and the idle seemed to be lower than usual even though the car seemed to otherwise run as normal. At this point I figured that the lower Intake manifold gasket would probably need to be replaced again (previous owner had it done in Feb 2013).

My question at this point is:

Will the LIM gasket, oil change, and coolant flush do the trick? or does the lifters or anything else need to be replaced? The car has been parked and not driven since in order not to cause even more damage.

it has 152,000 miles on it.

Did she over heat the car? I had hoses blow and coolant elbows blow before and I was able to make it home before it over heated and I was atleast 5 miles from home when it happened and my car didn't stall.

She doesn't recall it over heating, but there was a lot going on all at the same time. So, I would have to assume with the damage that is becoming apparent, it probably did. I believe it would be safe to assume at this point, that it did.

Last Oil Change was 09/04/2013 @ 151,318 miles.
When this happened and I replaced the hose was on 09/21/2013 @ 152,040 miles.
Today it was towed to a local shop, & we are awaiting their diagnosis and cost to repair.
