There's an O2 sensor test that takes about that long, so that could be it. The o2 sensor reads the air/fuel ratio and corrects the air intake via the pcm as necessary. It will be the one in front of the cat, the one after the cat just ensures the cat is functioning properly and does not change the afr.

so basically if its not running proper it will cause the car to stall.
How long would it take to replace this?

You'll need an o2 sensor wrench. Autozone sells them for around $8. If you've got one of those, maybe half an hour.

You just unplug it, jack the car up, unbolt it from the downpipe, bolt the new one in (without touching the head of the sensor) then plug it in and lower the car. **Let the car cool before you do this to prevent exhaust burns**

Is your check engine light on? Most of the time a bad o2 will throw a code.

I looked into it a bit more and this is more likely the crank position sensor. Here's a thread you can check out.
