No don't go that route. I'd get intake, stat, plugs, headers, then a pulley.

heres the order I went. All these mods were installed withing 2 weeks of each other:

    thermo, downpipe, wizair, pcm, plugs

going to plog then 3.6 pulley next. I'm guessing this is going to put me at a 13.9-14.1.

Not sure. I'm ordering the plog and 3.6 pulley right when I get back from Pennsylvania at the end of next week. Someone on the other boards had an 04 compg with my current mods (i think he had AL104 plugs though) plus the plog and 3.6. The car ran a best of 13.9 just a few days ago. It also had a run of 14.

i'm going to try to make it to the local strip once I get the pulley and plog on. I want my car to run consistant high 13's also so I might have to think of another mod or two to do after the pulley and plog, depending on what my times are. I think its a good idea to get rockers and springs if you are going to drop to a 3.5" pulley on the GenV and that costs a lot of $$$ so I want to avoid that and still get consistent high 13's using only new and what I think are the best parts ( which of course always cost the most money).

    I agree with said suggestion

    Intake, headers, tstat, plugs, ect.

Don't waste your time with plogs and dp's. Headers are one of the biggest mods for gp's period. Yeah pacesetters suck to put on (i didn't have a problem...) but if you order them from zzp they take care of all the problem area's and you can get the cheap non-coated ones and use header wrap to conceal the uglyness.

but, but, but..... won't they crack? awwww horse ****. I've had mine wrapped since i got them and i know i get higher egt's than anyone else around when i'm running my 100shot and they haven't cracked. The ceramic coating blows balls and looks like **** in a year or so anyways. Again if you can't spend the money on headers just save up until you can afford them, don't waste your money on a plog and dp unless you're happy running high 13's low 14's I know i'm sure the hell not. Just my .02 take it as it is.

Yea, if you are content with the Pacesetters get those instead of the Plog/dp combo. The pacesetters are made out of mild steel though and theres a reason they are substantially cheaper than the competition. I would have wanted the ZZP or SLP headers and your looking at $1,000 + install.

Just get some SS Autochrome ones, they're stainless steel SLP knockoffs and are only like $360 shipped.

they worked out all the problems with the ssautochrome so yea they're good. Just don't expect perfection out of them, expect what you would expect from pacesetter just stainless and better lol. I forgot about those things

all depends i'm on a 125 but that was a cold bottle at 800psi. Next year i'm comin out with a 200shot directport system with it's own fuel tank and fuel pump for the nitrous. It'll be gangsta! That'll be on my 100,000+mile stock ass motor too. It'll take it, i know it will just for how long?

with 125 shot, you didnt notice any nitrous pops or knocks or anything like that? How much power can our internals actually handle?

The 3800's bottom end is pretty stout, as it is. Kudos to GM's over engineering it.

It's not so much a question of how much power it can handle. It's all in the tune. Some uncontrolled knock in a high HP setup will tear it to shreds. You'll probably find most high HP failures come from detonation and not the HP directly.

Two types of forces at work in an engine. Inertial forces (inertia of the parts, specifically pistons and rods moving back and forth), and power forces (force of the expanding gases pushing on the pistons, rods, and crank). Inertial forces are many times that of power forces, so increasing power doesn't add that much to the total load felt by the hard parts. If that makes sense.

Well said! Yea it's all in the tune man, there's a gtp in the 8.90's with a stock bottom end. It's very very strong but nitrous eats aluminum so a 200 shot is going to be pushing my luck to be honest. The 125shot was kr free the whole run but i was getting spark blowout at the 1000' mark, still haven't gotten a whole 1/4 mile run! dammit!

the older headers 03 and older work on our cars also 04+. the pacesetters are a little bit of a PITA to get on because its a tighter squeze on the 04+

ill put it this way. last time out at the track i ran 14.6 at 91. i was breaking up, up top. i had a sparkplug wire not all the way on. next time out with my pacesetters on and EVERYTHING in perfect running condition, im gonna try and break 13's on the stock tune. most will problew say its not possilbe but we shall see. if not im shooting for LOW 14's.

also if you dont want to do your own tunning overkill highly recemended. :: Overkill Motorsports ::
