Was on my way to work and over the radio i could hear something that sounded like a harley beside me. Turned the tunes down and it was my car. Pulled it over and it has a horrible knock. It drove normally before that and never put the engine under stress. It just came out of nowhere. I havent had a mechanic look at it because though im not a mechanic i know that its serious and will be too expensive for me to handle right now. Worst of all im stuck driving an Aveo! Just kidding its a damn good car. But Im not ready to give up on the gp. Just looking for advice, options, what have you. I dont know if its worth a rebuild because i have a transmission issue too. It shifts fine but gets hot and vibrates the car if on the gas. Mechanic said it was the bearings. So really i think im down to 2 options. Buying a used engine and tranny or parting her out. But im having a mechanic come give me a opinion before i do anything but its hard to deny that knock.

You wouldn't have any KR if you didn't beat on it.

It has a loud exhuast leak at the headers. It kind of makes it hard to hear the knock cause its really loud when you first start it but quiets down.

Too hard to say, get that leak fixed.

Sounds like the leak is so big that the car cant run, also sounds like a huge vacuum leak.

I would pull the dipstick and make sure its not full of sparkles, if it is, thats a spun bearing.

The leak really isnt bad. I think it just the weirdness of the way the engine is running making it loud. Usually it chatters for 10 15 seconds then goes away. And not near that loud. And no vac leaks right now. Just fixed egr valve leak. But there is a second in that vid were you can hear it good. Bill, thats what friend said too

damn dude, I would get a junk yard engine and trans and sell it. Unless it's in rough shape, then I would just part it out.

Im pretty nervous about buying a used motor and transmission. Im almost leaning towards selling the goodies of it and scrappin it. But only time will tell. Just dont want have a ton of money in it. If i do sell the performance parts of it, look for me in the parts for sale section
