so i figured id try out a forum..im new to this so hey to all...i own a 1997 gtp..the other day i was going to replace a failing o2 sensor to clear the code...so i disconnected the battery and the front o2..needless to say i wasnt sure which o2 to replace.. so i crawled underneth and went directly to the rear o2 on the ubend...realized i had a leak right after the cat...so in progress of trying to remove the rear o2 sensor i hit the cat a couple time and the exhaust was shaking quite a bit...so after i gave up because i couldnt get it disconnected i crawled back out connected the battery and the front o2 sensor and decided to go back and get the code read again and find out which o2 was failing..mean while i was driving the car to autozone to get the code read and realized i had a real nasty knock...wasnt sure what that was and the car started to run really really bad...never got the code read because the check engine light wasnt on due to the fact the code cleared its self with the disconnection of the battery...so now im stuck with a nasty knock and a car that wont go over 50.. also i pulled the belt off the sc and spun the pulley by hand and noticed there was about a half inch play before you could actually feel the pulley grab..or give resistance...needless to say i need some help from people who actually know about gp's and know these cars inside and out...please help me out guys...im stumped.

did you replace the o2 sensor? the one you need to replace is on the rear manifold, not the one you saw underneath, that does nothing for the engine performance.
