Yep. Both are L67.
i just put the same year motor in my 98 didnt have one problem.
are you guys sure you dont have to change anything like the motor mount? cause im having trouble getting it to fit right.... its all the way down and the motor mount is in. Half of the engine is meeting with the trans and the mount with the 2 bolts by the firewall is like an inch too high... i dont get it
I had the same problem with the motor going in and it was all the flexplates fault. There is a small hole in the middle of the flexplate that has to line up with the button on the middle of the torque converter. Only way to see it is with a flashlight looking up between the two of them. Gt them lined up and should go right in
Often you need to jack the passenger end of the trans up to meet up and allow things to line up. Lining up the engine to trans can be a pain for a first timer. It's a bit of luck/experience and a lot of wiggling and adjusting of angles.
the 05 monte is a series III
if i remember correctly, gm mixed the L32 and L67 in 04-05 for the imps and montes. L32 blocks with L67 heads and blowers
