ok, just picked up my 2000 GTP tonight, and noticed that after driving for 60 miles this is all the higher the temp gauge would go. is this normal? bad sensor? bad T-stat? I plan on flushing the crap outta the rad and system but was wondering what the normal place on the gauge for the needle.

I'd guess its at 185-190. Mine runs at the frist big dash and thats 195-200 and stay there.

A rad flush and new thermostat (with bleeding the air out) will do the car good and you'll be golden.

That's where mine runs. I have a 180 degree thermostat in. It was about 4 divisions higher when I had the 195 in.

195 is stock for these cars right? Im assuming the 180 helps avoid Knock? On a stock car is there any real reason to go to a 180? Im thinking getting a new T-Stat tomorrow and a new cap for the Rad. Just checking what I should look at gettig.

I put the 180 in for summer driving. It keeps things a little cooler in stop and go driving. I also have an oversized ZZP radiator to put in before next summer.

Keep the stock 195, its what best for the car.

In reality, the temp difference of 10-12ยบ does hardly anything for us, everything heatsoaks. But thats another topic.
