Hello, We have stock sc engine with fender well intake and 110,000 miles. The car has been well taken care of and runs perfect. We are installing SLP headers, 180 thermostat, 1.9 rockers and getting a good tune. From what I've read I'm thinking a 3.4 pulley should be safe. Does that sound correct to you people with experience?

    Thanks in advance

3.8 pulley sounds safe. Anything else and you're asking for trouble.

    Sure.

Only one way to find out is scan.

Go get an aeroforce gauge before doing anything and see how the car is running.

3.4 sounds just about where you wanna be. Although since you're in Michigan and fall is right around the corner I'd just run a 3.5. The difference in power is negligible but you'll be a little safer come the winter months. Just remember when you say you're getting a 'good' tune, that you actually get a good tune! Run a safe AFR and reasonable amount of timing. What's more important to you, being able to romp on the car wherever whenever, or making 10whp more for 1 pull then knocking to oblivion for subsequent pulls?

Good luck! Headers, pulley, tune cars go pretty good for a DD!

Thanks for the input. This car is stored in the winter if the helps. Maybe I'll order both the 3.4 and 3.5 and have them both ready for the tune and go with the best fit.

You'll be fine with a tune IMO, I just picked up a 3.4 & our setups will be close. I am getting mine tuned come October-ish so hopefully I will be decently tuned for summer & winter performance. You might wanna think about springs with the 1.9's though. I probably should have upgraded with my 1.84's. Scanning is king!

I'd upgrade springs ANYTIME I'd touch a tired 3800 valvetrain.

Stock springs are weak and are gonna for sure float on high ratio rockers with higher than stock shift points.

L76's or LS6 springs can be had super cheap...get those installed while you're in there.
