speaking of thread revival..........I don't mind paying money for a professional custom tune if I don't have to drive too far. Does anyone know of a shop anywhere in WI or in the twin cities areas that does tuning or dyno tuning for these? Thanks a lot..

I can't believe people are buying intense PCM's, and them even having a decent reputation.

Having been around long enough to have seen these PCM's blow numerous motors, I'd never touch a car with one in it, unless touching it required removing it and throwing it in the trash.
They don't change hardly anything in the PCM, but the changes they do make are, in my opinion, not smart, and are putting engines in jeopardy. I suppose they might have gotten better, but if they were that awful at one time, I would never again trust them, but I don't trust anything intense does or says considering their history so....

Yup, that's right. When I came around a couple years ago all I heard was how bad Intense PCM's were and to go with either DHP or ZZP...at the time ZZP was a tad cheaper so I went with them...5 PCM's and a blown motor later I wish I would have spent the extra ten bucks huh?

Intense Apparently got a on site dyno recently and have been doing some good tuning...and after really getting into the G8 scene their HP Tuning is pretty good from what I hear too...what a shame is that Digital Horsepower is gone...those were the best damned mail order tunes EVER for these cars...

    DHP 1.0 was the shizz

That's what my 11sec S1X setup had for a PCM, regular 1.0 file with higher shifts, and an AFC to scale for 42.5 injectors. Went like crazy, I miss that setup.

IMO if 3800 Performance doesn't sell ZZP Bin files...then they still have the rights to the DHP Bin Tune and are still using it thus get one from them. If not...ummm, Overkill Motorsports or Intense-Racing.

Well I've read a number of posts here regarding Mail Order PCM Tuning. I think it's something that should be taken in careful consideration. Since many of you Mod up your car a good bit and you feel it's necessary to tweak your PCM to get the most out of your Mods, I wonder if it would'nt be a bad idea to locate a compatible PCM from a wrecked car and play with that and in the event things go array you can always revert back to the original stock PCM. Besides quote me if I am wrong anyone, it seems that Co. like Overkill and Intense want you to send them your OEM PCM to be tuned. Would your car even start while your PCM is out of the vehicle. If so you would need a second car or a spare compatible PCM, either way Mail order Tuning is inconvenient and not really 100% foolproof.

Nope, won't start...it'll just crank over and over IIRC.

Mail Order tunes are fine, as long as you have basic bolt-ons...that is what they are designed for and have been tested time and time again. It is when you get past the basic 3.4" setup that you have to worry about a custom tune...but a custom tune is always better IMO, no matter what the case.

I think you're right. I have a 07 Pont. GP GT Supercharger. The only Mod thats on it is a Cold Air Intake by K&N. I did change out the MAF. The screen end is omitted. I might get 10 extra horses from the CAI. This car seems to run really good. I would like to do more to it, but I am not in a rush. Thats the main reason I am on this forum to learn a few things. PCM modifications does fascinate me. In my opinion the Series III Pont Grand Prix SC is one of the best V-6's on the road. Right now I am trying to figure out some economical ways to lower tranny and Eng. Temps, I live in SE Louisiana we're seeing 100 Plus Deg days right now. Might look into a good Tranny Cooler.

I would love a good custom tune, but I am unaware of anyone that is anywhere near me where I could get a good reliable tune. Chicago is about a five hour drive from here. I do not have any plans to go beyond the 3.4 setup as this is my DD. Just trying to find something safe and reliable yet will help me maximize my mods.........Anyone know of a tuner in Wisconsin or the Twin Cities?

Get a colder temp Thermostat, like a 180* or 160*...but since you have such high temps you might try a 160*...and a Desert Fox Tranny Cooler...ask Geddy about those...they are pretty good from what I hear.

Do NOT buy a email tune!! unless your pretty much stock and get a DHP!
    i tried 4 ZZP's SUCKED ASS!!!!!
i have a overkill now and thought it was awesome told a few guys to go there, hes a great guy to work with but my tune SUCKS!!
i have an 04 comp g, 1.9 rockers, 85 maf, headers no cat, 3.4 pulley

i finally raced my buddy in his 98 gtp, 3.4 pulley, intake headers, slp catback, with 6 DEGREES of KR and yes he was side by side with me! then at 100 he started to pull and we let out. i used to put 6-7 cars on him with my dhp

im getting a dyno tune soon so i can have a quick car again instead of a turd

Whats a good tuner to buy for a Series III 3.8 supercharger. I have an 07 Grand Prix GT. I've been wanting to get a tuner and custom tune my car myself but can't find one to support the PCM in my vehicle.

HP Tuners supports it all IIRC...if you buy the tuner you can tune at will with it, but I think you have a have a '05 PCM or something like that...I can't remember what it is with the newer cars but they don't like tunes.
