how small of a pulley could i run with the VS cam, zzp stg3 heads (130# springs), 1.7rrs, ICed, GenV? basically the mods in my sig with the VS instead and TOGs instead of slps.

please no stupid replies like "as small as you want"

well, it's true. the only way you'll know is have a plethora of pulleys and to see what the car can run without knocking.

    3.4 is way to big.
I would think a 2.8 would be a decent starting point, should be able to run healthy amount of timing and afr.

    VS instead of IS3.... Interesting.

3.2-3.4 is a nice starting point.

Getting boost levels up to 10 PSI, maybe a tad more, solid AFR around 11.4-11.6, 16-19* timing would be a nice reliable "street" goal.

thanks matt. reliable is what im going for this time.

i was going to build a second motor with the vs in case the is3 motor blew. well yesturday it blew so im going to go with the vs and probably sell the is3 cam. is3 was fun but time for some more reliable on the street, gas is getting pricey

Im running 3.25 on similar setup with l26 bottom end. 0 kr on 93 octane almost like it doesn't work. 2 kr on 89 octane, put 5 gallons in to see how close I'm on pulley size. My timing appears to be 19 or 20 degrees and it was 60 degrees out. Still need to get this tuned.

I'm gonna say 2.8-3.0....3.0 easily. I'm able to run a 2.8 with a GenV and stock heads with the help of E85. With having those heads and an IC I'd say 2.8 on pump gas is easily do-able.

on the S1x or on a VS?

i have down to a 2.6 so it would be nice to drive around on the 2.8.

2.8 if you put stock rockers back on..

If you leave the 1.7s on... Probably a 3.2 would be all you can do before you start floating.

I was able to do the 2.8 with the SIX. The SIX is just slightly more aggressive than the VS cam.

I didn't see the 1.7 RR earlier in your post. You will for sure be able to run the 2.8.....Maybe even shoot for the 2.6

VS cam with 1.7 RR = more lift than VS cam with stock rockers....I don't see why he would run a bigger pulley. Should be the other direction and run a smaller pulley.
Valve float won't be an issue with 130# springs. Even with the VS and 1.7RR combo it's about the same lift as a stage 3 cam.

    VS: 206/216 .320/.317 115 N/A Total lift = .512/.507
    VS w/1.7RR: 206/216 .320/.317 115 N/A Total lift = .544/.539
    IS3: 222/228 .338/.344 115 111 Total lift = .541/.550

With duration out of the question he is essentially running a combination that has roughly the same amount of lift as an IS3 cam.

You beat me to it...I was editing my last post to show that.

I'm in a similar situation with my build where I am going to be combining the SIX with 1.8 RR for a nice DD setup.
The VS with 1.7 will be a nice setup with the nice set of heads that you're pairing that combo with.

Uh, 1.7 roller rockers make LESS lift than stock, and have been proven to float like crazy on 130# springs even at low lift.

Confused why anyone would want to try to run more boost to counter act **** parts.

    Well new news to me.

How do 1.7 rockers make less lift than stock?

Stock rockers are variable ratio. On a XP cam I measured roughly a 1.78 ratio at full lift. A 1.7 roller will lose some ratio at peak lift... I was not able to measure it accurately though.

The last motor I built with rollers used 1.8s, custom rocker bolts, custom lifters, and a xpz style cam on double spring 150# springs.... I still think it floated slightly passed 6400rpms so i shifted it at 6200 instead of the targeted 6600....
