I'd like it to be a little louder than stock, but I agree- the more open pipe it is the worse it sounds. I like the deep, rumbling purr- just want to give it a little more volume .

Cherry bomb turbos might satisfy that requirement.

Ok so is there a consensus besides not doing it that will help me out here? Lets try again, is there an aftermarket exhaust that will deepen the tone of my cars exhaust note in a non offensive manner? @bluegtp91 Are you saying Dynomax Super Turbos are the way to go? Like these....

Dynomax all around are great mufflers, just don't get chambered ones.

One guy we met at a meet..(bcartman) he has the 3" zzp exhaust with the flowpros...I have to say it is the best sound out of a 3800 I've ever heard. It's not obnoxiously loud or drones, but it is that nice deep rumble you're looking for. Even at wot it sounds amazing. I fell in love when I first heard it.

Pffft, zzp catback is a raspy bunch.

    Just like everything else.

    Plus their resonators fall apart.

VT's are basically resonators/glass packs at WOT (wide open throttle).

Irridium spark plugs last 100k mi and work just as well as copper. Copper is a waste on N/A and only lasts 15k mi. Don't use Platinum.
Use 195* tstat unless you can thoroughly explain why not; 99.9% don't need a lower temp.
Almost any oil filter, ever, is of higher quality than ACDelco. Spend $6+.

    Worthless On Tarmac.

    Besides.

    Any loud 3800 is junk.

I'm sure with the factory converter and the factory resonator those VT's might be bearable...but not with a set of catless headers and a aftermarket resonator.

With the setup that I have been thinking about am I going to be catless? I do not want to eliminate the cat. Or is that a part of going to headers?

Does anyone know where I can find a exhaust diagram for our cars? So im still searching and I keep hearing about just doing headers and replacing the "resonator" with a glass pack and keeping a stock exhaust. Im down to entertain this just want to see what the set up looks like in a literal sense. Just cause I want to do this myself still.

When it comes down to it go with what you like, listen to the youtube videos with a surround sound if possible (it's what I did). On my 97 GT I had ubend delete, resonator delete out through two flowmaster 40 series. It sounded like a beast at WOT. On my 98 GTP I have ubend delete, resonator delete and stock mufflers. It has a slight rumble at idle and it's a little louder without the resonator, but when listening to it in the driveway, that thing is raspy as f**k. Oh and good choice on the Overkill tune, I am enjoying mine very much. It's night and day compared to the stock PCM.
Goldie 98 Topaz Gold GTP (retired)/ Shadow 06 GTO 6.0 Phantom Black Metallic- traded in. Now cruising a 2005 GMC Sierra 2500 HD 4x4 with the always fun 6.0L

Thanks for that man I am pretty much set on the ZZP setup I was just talkin to the rep and he has been very helpful. If nothing else I will have a setup for everyone to use a gauge once its complete heres the final set up details gonna place the order on Wednesday!

    ZZPerformance - 2.5" Aluminized Catback Exhaust #ZZ-25GPALCB
With the Dual Tips and the ZZP Resonator.

    ZZPerformance - Stainless Headers #ZZ-304HDR-38
Option 1: WITH EGR, whatever that is?
Option 2: Mild Steel Downpipe with Cat - 2.5" Exit
Add On: Add 3 inch gasket
Add On #2: I am keeping my stock cat

I will post up a video once its all done, I have access to some decent recording equipment so I will try to capture the truest sound possible! Thanks for all the help guys.
