Went to change cam position sensor, every parts house, including dealer with VIN reference, come up with a totally different part than the one I have. Different size, different wiring connector! Mine was one of the first in Houston when the new GTP came out, the only thing I can figure was a parts change on the line? The dealer says " bring it in we will figure it out" , yea, for a heft price! Anybody else experience this!

So you post no pic, no request for pic. Sweet......thanks for the info about your car being odd. Fwiw series iis were made since 1995. Yours was far from a first in the production line.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

I have seen some goofy rare parts on 3800s, but they still all use the same cam sensor.

Also, I am impressed to hear of a cam sensor actually failing... 99/100 times the cam sprocket magnet falls out.

Sorry no pic, id have to pull it again. Actually, Im leaning towards no problem on sensor. I have a code problem I have been working on and off for two years "mis-fire on number one cyl". I, and several mechanics, have changed many, many, parts and can't resolve the issue. The last two things that haven't been changed are the computer and sensor. However, It runs really well, so I am thinking not on the sensor.
